Soera Ash-Shu'ara (26) — De Dichters · الشعراء
Mekkaanse soera, 227 verzen, als 47e geopenbaard.
De dichters, en profeten die door hun volkeren werden geloochend maar in het gelijk gesteld.
Ash-Shu'ara 26:1
طسٓمٓ
Ta, Siem, Miem.
Ta, Seen, Meem
Ash-Shu'ara 26:2
تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
Dit zijn de verzen van een duidelijk boek.
These are the verses of the clear Book
Ash-Shu'ara 26:3
لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٞ نَّفۡسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
Het kan zijn dat jij jezelf zult vernietigen door verdriet omdat zij geen gelovigen worden.
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:4
إِن نَّشَأۡ نُنَزِّلۡ عَلَيۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةٗ فَظَلَّتۡ أَعۡنَٰقُهُمۡ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ
Als Wij gewild zouden hebben, dan hadden Wij uit de hemel een teken kunnen sturen waarvoor zij hun nekken in nederigheid zouden buigen.
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled
Ash-Shu'ara 26:5
وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن ذِكۡرٖ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مُحۡدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضِينَ
En er komt van de Barmhartige geen vermaning als openbaring of zij keren zich daarvan af.
And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it
Ash-Shu'ara 26:6
فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُواْ فَسَيَأۡتِيهِمۡ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُاْ مَا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
En voorzeker, zij hebben het ontkent, dus zal het nieuws waarover zij gespot hebben tot hen komen.
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule
Ash-Shu'ara 26:7
أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمۡ أَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجٖ كَرِيمٍ
Bekijken zij de aarde dan niet – hoeveel goede soorten Wij daarop hebben laten groeien?
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind
Ash-Shu'ara 26:8
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk, hierin is een teken maar de meesten van hen zijn geen gelovigen.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:9
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk, jullie Heer! Hij is echt de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:10
وَإِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئۡتِ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
En (gedenk) toen jullie Heer Moesa riep (zeggende): “Ga naar het volk dat onrechtvaardig is, -
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people
Ash-Shu'ara 26:11
قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
Het volk van Farao. Zullen zij Allah dan niet vrezen en rechtgeleid worden?”
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah
Ash-Shu'ara 26:12
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
Hij zei: “Mijn Heer! Waarlijk, ik vrees dat zij mij zullen verloochenen,
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:13
وَيَضِيقُ صَدۡرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرۡسِلۡ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَ
En dat mijn borst beklemd raakt en dat mijn tong zich niet goed uit. Laat Haaroen dus komen (hier zien we het belang van een persoon die steun geeft in het geloof, zeer belangrijk voor elke moslim).
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron
Ash-Shu'ara 26:14
وَلَهُمۡ عَلَيَّ ذَنۢبٞ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقۡتُلُونِ
En zij beschuldigen mij van een misdaad, en ik ben bang dat zij mij zullen doden.”
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:15
قَالَ كَلَّاۖ فَٱذۡهَبَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسۡتَمِعُونَ
Allah zei: “Nee! Gaan jullie beiden met Onze tekenen na de Farao. Waarlijk! Wij zullen bij jullie zijn, luisterend.
[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening
Ash-Shu'ara 26:16
فَأۡتِيَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
En wanneer jullie beiden tot de Farao komen zeg: “Wij zijn de Boodschappers van de Heer van de werelden.
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:17
أَنۡ أَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
Laat dus de Kinderen van Israël met ons mee gaan.”
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel
Ash-Shu'ara 26:18
قَالَ أَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدٗا وَلَبِثۡتَ فِينَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
(Farao) zei: “Hebben wij jou niet als kind van ons opgevoed? En jij hebt vele jaren van je leven bij ons mogen wonen.
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life
Ash-Shu'ara 26:19
وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِي فَعَلۡتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
En je hebt je daad gepleegd, wat je gedaan hebt. En jij bent één van de ondankbaren.”
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:20
قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَآ إِذٗا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
Moesa zei: “Ik heb het gedaan toen ik onwetend was (voor de openbaring).
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray
Ash-Shu'ara 26:21
فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكۡمٗا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Dus vluchtte ik van jullie toen ik jullie vreesde. En toen heeft mijn Heer mij wijsheid geschonken en mij als één van de boodschappers aangewezen.
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:22
وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةٞ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
En dit is een vroegere gunst die jij mij verwijt – dat u de Kinderen van Israël tot slaven heeft gemaakt (en mij niet).”
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel
Ash-Shu'ara 26:23
قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Farao zei: “En wie is de Heer van de werelden?”
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:24
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
Moesa zei: “De Heer van de hemelen en de aarde en alles wat daartussen is, indien jullie overtuigd zijn.”
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced
Ash-Shu'ara 26:25
قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ
Farao zei tegen degenen om hem heen: “Horen jullie niet (wat hij zegt)?”
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear
Ash-Shu'ara 26:26
قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Moesa zei: “Jullie Heer en de Heer van jullie voorvaderen!”
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:27
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِيٓ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونٞ
Farao zei: “Waarlijk, jullie boodschapper die naar jullie toe is gestuurd is een dwaas!”
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad
Ash-Shu'ara 26:28
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ
Moesa zei: “De Heer van het oosten en het westen en alles wat daar tussen is, als jullie dat kunnen begrijpen.”
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason
Ash-Shu'ara 26:29
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذۡتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيۡرِي لَأَجۡعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجُونِينَ
Farao zei: “Als je een god anders dan mij kiest, zal ik je zeker onder de gevangenen plaatsen.”
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned
Ash-Shu'ara 26:30
قَالَ أَوَلَوۡ جِئۡتُكَ بِشَيۡءٖ مُّبِينٖ
Moesa zei: “En als ik je iets duidelijks breng (een teken).”
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest
Ash-Shu'ara 26:31
قَالَ فَأۡتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
Farao zei: “Breng het dan, als je waarachtig bent!”
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:32
فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعۡبَانٞ مُّبِينٞ
Dus gooide (Moesa) zijn stok en zie, het was een duidelijke slang.
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest
Ash-Shu'ara 26:33
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيۡضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
En hij stak zijn hand uit en zie, voor alle toeschouwers was het wit!
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:34
قَالَ لِلۡمَلَإِ حَوۡلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٞ
(Farao) zei tegen de gezagdragers om hem heen: “Waarlijk! Dit is inderdaad een goed onderrichte tovenaar.
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician
Ash-Shu'ara 26:35
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُم بِسِحۡرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَ
Hij wil jullie door zijn toverkunst uit jullie land verdrijven, wat is dan jullie raad en wat bevelen jullie aan?”
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise
Ash-Shu'ara 26:36
قَالُوٓاْ أَرۡجِهۡ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبۡعَثۡ فِي ٱلۡمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Geef hem en zijn broer uitstel en stuur boodschappers naar de steden;
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:37
يَأۡتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٖ
Om uw best getrainde tovenaars te verzamelen.”
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician
Ash-Shu'ara 26:38
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
Dus werden de tovenaars op een vastgestelde tijd op een aangewezen dag verzameld.
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day
Ash-Shu'ara 26:39
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّجۡتَمِعُونَ
En er werd tegen het volk gezegd: “Verzamelen jullie je (ook)?
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
Ash-Shu'ara 26:40
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ
Zodat wij de tovenaars kunnen volgen als zij de winnaars zullen zijn.”
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant
Ash-Shu'ara 26:41
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُواْ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجۡرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ
Toen de tovenaars dus aankwamen zeiden zij tegen Farao: “Zal er echt een beloning voor ons zijn als wij de winnaars zijn?”
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant
Ash-Shu'ara 26:42
قَالَ نَعَمۡ وَإِنَّكُمۡ إِذٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِينَ
Hij zei: “Ja, en jullie zullen zeker tot degenen behoren die in (mijn) nabijheid worden gebracht.”
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]
Ash-Shu'ara 26:43
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلۡقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ
Moesa zei tegen hen: “Gooien jullie wat jullie zullen gooien.”
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw
Ash-Shu'ara 26:44
فَأَلۡقَوۡاْ حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِيَّهُمۡ وَقَالُواْ بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ
Dus gooiden zij hun touwen en stokken en zeiden: “Bij de macht van de Farao, wij zijn het die zeker zullen winnen!”
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant
Ash-Shu'ara 26:45
فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا يَأۡفِكُونَ
Toen gooide Moesa zijn stok en zie, het slikte alle valsheid wat zij lieten zien, door!
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified
Ash-Shu'ara 26:46
فَأُلۡقِيَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ
En de tovenaars wierpen zich ter aarde (uit grootheid voor Allah toen zij beseften dat zij fout waren)
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]
Ash-Shu'ara 26:47
قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Zegende: “Wij geloven in de Heer van de werelden.
They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:48
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
De Heer van Moesa en Haaroen.”
The Lord of Moses and Aaron
Ash-Shu'ara 26:49
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَٰفٖ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
(Farao) zei: “Jullie hebben in Hem geloofd voordat ik jullie daarvoor toestemming gaf. Zeker Hij is inderdaad jullie meester die jullie jullie toverkunsten heeft onderricht! Dus waarlijk, jullie zullen het te weten komen. Waarlijk, ik zal jullie handen en voeten van tegengestelde kanten afhakken en ik zal jullie allemaal kruisigen.”
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all
Ash-Shu'ara 26:50
قَالُواْ لَا ضَيۡرَۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
Zij zeiden: “Geen punt? Waarlijk tot onze Heer zullen wij terugkeren;
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return
Ash-Shu'ara 26:51
إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن يَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk, wij hopen echt dat onze Heer onze zonden zal vergeven want wij zijn de eerste van de gelovigen.”
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:52
۞وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِيٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
En Wij openbaarden aan Moesa, zeggende: “Neem Mijn slaven in de nacht weg, waarlijk jullie zullen vervolgd worden.”
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued
Ash-Shu'ara 26:53
فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِي ٱلۡمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ
Toen stuurde Farao boodschappers naar (alle) steden (om zijn leger te verzamelen).
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:54
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةٞ قَلِيلُونَ
(Zeggende): “Waarlijk! Dit is zeker niet anders dan een kleine groep.
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band
Ash-Shu'ara 26:55
وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ
En waarlijk, zij hebben gedaan wat ons woedend heeft gemaakt;
And indeed, they are enraging us
Ash-Shu'ara 26:56
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَٰذِرُونَ
En wij zijn een goed bewapend, vooruit gewaarschuwd leger.”
And indeed, we are a cautious society
Ash-Shu'ara 26:57
فَأَخۡرَجۡنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ
Dus hebben Wij hen van de tuinen en de bronnen verbannen,
So We removed them from gardens and springs
Ash-Shu'ara 26:58
وَكُنُوزٖ وَمَقَامٖ كَرِيمٖ
En schatten en alle soorten edele plaatsen.
And treasures and honorable station
Ash-Shu'ara 26:59
كَذَٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
En zo lieten Wij de Kinderen van Israël het beërven.
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel
Ash-Shu'ara 26:60
فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِينَ
Dus vervolgden zij hen bij de zonsopkomst.
So they pursued them at sunrise
Ash-Shu'ara 26:61
فَلَمَّا تَرَـٰٓءَا ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ قَالَ أَصۡحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُونَ
En toen de twee groepen elkaar zagen, zei het volk van Moesa: “Wij zijn zeker dat wij ingehaald worden.”
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken
Ash-Shu'ara 26:62
قَالَ كَلَّآۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ
“Welnee (zei Moesa)! Waarlijk, mijn Heer is met mij (en het is) Hij Die mij zal leiden (naar het pad van de bevrijding).”
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:63
فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقٖ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Toen openbaarden Wij aan Moesa (zeggende): “Sla met jouw stok tegen de zee.” En het spleet en ieder afzonderlijk deel werd als een grote stevige massa van een berg.
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain
Ash-Shu'ara 26:64
وَأَزۡلَفۡنَا ثَمَّ ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
En vervolgens brachten Wij de anderen nabij.
And We advanced thereto the pursuers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:65
وَأَنجَيۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ
En Wij redden Moesa en ieder die bij hem waren.
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together
Ash-Shu'ara 26:66
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Toen verdronken Wij de anderen.
Then We drowned the others
Ash-Shu'ara 26:67
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk! Hierin is zeker een teken maar de meesten van hen zijn geen gelovigen.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:68
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk, jullie Heer! Hij is waarlijk de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:69
وَٱتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
En reciteer aan hen het verhaal van Ibraahiem.
And recite to them the news of Abraham
Ash-Shu'ara 26:70
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
Toen hij tegen zijn vader en zijn volk zei: “Wie aanbidden jullie?”
When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship
Ash-Shu'ara 26:71
قَالُواْ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامٗا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Wij aanbidden afgoden en aan hen zijn wij altijd toegewijd.”
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted
Ash-Shu'ara 26:72
قَالَ هَلۡ يَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَ
Hij zei: “Horen zij jullie als jullie (hen) aanroepen?”
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate
Ash-Shu'ara 26:73
أَوۡ يَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ يَضُرُّونَ
Of hebben jullie er baat bij of schaden zij (jullie)?”
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm
Ash-Shu'ara 26:74
قَالُواْ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفۡعَلُونَ
Zij zeiden: “Nee, maar onze vaders deden het ook.”
They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus
Ash-Shu'ara 26:75
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ
Hij zei: “Hebben jullie datgene wat jullie aanbidden goed bekeken, -
He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping
Ash-Shu'ara 26:76
أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَ
Jullie en jullie voorvaders?”
You and your ancient forefathers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:77
فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوّٞ لِّيٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Waarlijk! (Al datgene zij buiten Allah aanbidden) zijn vijanden van mij behalve de heer van de werelden.
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:78
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهۡدِينِ
Degene die mij (in de beste vorm) heeft geschapen, en het is (enkel) Hij Die mij leidt (naar een bewustzijn van het pad der goedheid).
Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:79
وَٱلَّذِي هُوَ يُطۡعِمُنِي وَيَسۡقِينِ
En het is Hij (de Voorziener en Begunstiger) Die mij te eten en te drinken geeft.
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink
Ash-Shu'ara 26:80
وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ يَشۡفِينِ
En als ik ziek ben, is het (niemand anders dan) Hij Die mij geneest (van ziektes zowel geestelijk als lichamelijk en de ziektes van het hart).
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:81
وَٱلَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحۡيِينِ
En (het is Hij) Die mij laat sterven (zodra mijn tijd erop zit), en mij vervolgens levend (uit mijn graf) doet herrijzen.
And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
Ash-Shu'ara 26:82
وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡمَعُ أَن يَغۡفِرَ لِي خَطِيٓـَٔتِي يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ
Degene waar ik op hoop dat hij mijn fouten op de Dag der Vergoeding vergeeft.
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense
Ash-Shu'ara 26:83
رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي حُكۡمٗا وَأَلۡحِقۡنِي بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
Mijn Heer! Geef mij wijsheid en voeg mij bij de rechtvaardigen;
[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous
Ash-Shu'ara 26:84
وَٱجۡعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدۡقٖ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
En laat mij door de volgende generaties in eerbaarheid herinnerd worden;
And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations
Ash-Shu'ara 26:85
وَٱجۡعَلۡنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
En maakt mij tot de beërfers van het paradijs van de vreugde.
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure
Ash-Shu'ara 26:86
وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِيٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
En vergeef mijn vader, waarlijk hij behoort tot degenen die dwalend zijn;
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray
Ash-Shu'ara 26:87
وَلَا تُخۡزِنِي يَوۡمَ يُبۡعَثُونَ
En verneder mij niet op de Dag wanneer (alle schepselen) zullen herrijzen,-
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected
Ash-Shu'ara 26:88
يَوۡمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٞ وَلَا بَنُونَ
De Dag waarop noch weelde noch zonen zullen baten.
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
Ash-Shu'ara 26:89
إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٖ
Behalve degene die bij Allah aankomt met een gezond hart.
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart
Ash-Shu'ara 26:90
وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ
En het paradijs zal in de nabijheid van de godvrezenden gebracht worden.
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous
Ash-Shu'ara 26:91
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِلۡغَاوِينَ
En het (helle) vuur zal in het volle aangezicht van de dwalenden geplaatst worden.”
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators
Ash-Shu'ara 26:92
وَقِيلَ لَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ
En er zal tegen hen gezegd worden: “Waar zijn zij die jullie aanbaden,
And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
Ash-Shu'ara 26:93
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلۡ يَنصُرُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ يَنتَصِرُونَ
Behalve Allah? Kunnen zij jullie helpen of zichzelf helpen?”
Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves
Ash-Shu'ara 26:94
فَكُبۡكِبُواْ فِيهَا هُمۡ وَٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
Dan zullen zij op hun gezichten in het (vuur) geworpen worden – Zij en de duivels en degenen die zondigden.
So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators
Ash-Shu'ara 26:95
وَجُنُودُ إِبۡلِيسَ أَجۡمَعُونَ
En samen met het hele leger van Iblies.
And the soldiers of Iblees, all together
Ash-Shu'ara 26:96
قَالُواْ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا يَخۡتَصِمُونَ
Zij zullen zeggen terwijl zij twisten,
They will say while they dispute therein
Ash-Shu'ara 26:97
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍ
“Bij Allah, wij hebben zeker een duidelijke dwaling gemaakt (in ons leven).
By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
Ash-Shu'ara 26:98
إِذۡ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Toen wij jullie (valse goden) gelijk aan de Heer van de wereldwezens stelden.
When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:99
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ
En niemand heeft ons doen afdwalen behalve de misdadigers (neem daarom een vriend die jou steun geeft op de weg naar Allah).
And no one misguided us except the criminals
Ash-Shu'ara 26:100
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ
Nu hebben wij geen bemiddelaars,
So now we have no intercessors
Ash-Shu'ara 26:101
وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٖ
Noch een naaste vriend.
And not a devoted friend
Ash-Shu'ara 26:102
فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةٗ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
(Helaas!) Als wij slechts een kans hadden om terug te keren, zullen wij zeker onder de gelovigen zijn!
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:103
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk, hierin is zeker een teken, maar de meesten van hen zijn geen gelovigen.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:104
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk, jouw Heer! Hij is waarlijk de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:105
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Het volk van Noeh verloochende de Boodschappers.
The people of Noah denied the messengers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:106
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Toen hun broeder Noeh tegen hen zei: “Zullen jullie Allah niet vrezen en Hem gehoorzamen?
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
Ash-Shu'ara 26:107
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Ik ben voor jullie een betrouwbare boodschapper.
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
Ash-Shu'ara 26:108
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:109
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Ik vraag jullie hiervoor geen beloning, mijn beloning is slechts van de Heer van de werelden.
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:110
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
(Onderhoud jullie verplichting tot Allah), vrees Hem en gehoorzaam mij.”
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:111
۞قَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ
Zij zeiden: “Zullen wij jou geloven terwijl de laagste mensen jou volgen?”
They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]
Ash-Shu'ara 26:112
قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِي بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
Hij zei: “En wat voor kennis heb ik over dat wat zij deden?”
He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do
Ash-Shu'ara 26:113
إِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّيۖ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُونَ
Hun verrekening is slechts bij mijn Heer, als jullie dat (maar) wisten.
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive
Ash-Shu'ara 26:114
وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
En ik ben niet van plan de gelovigen te verjagen.
And I am not one to drive away the believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:115
إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞ
Ik ben slechts een duidelijke waarschuwer.”
I am only a clear warner
Ash-Shu'ara 26:116
قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Als jij niet stopt, Noeh. Dan zou je je zeker onder degenen die gestenigd zijn, bevinden.”
They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned
Ash-Shu'ara 26:117
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوۡمِي كَذَّبُونِ
Hij zei: “Mijn Heer! Waarlijk, mijn volk heeft mij verloochend.
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:118
فَٱفۡتَحۡ بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحٗا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِيَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Oordeelt U daarom tussen hen en mij en red mij en degenen van de gelovigen die met mij zijn.”
Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:119
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ
Vervolgens redden wij hem en degenen die bij hem waren in een volgeladen schip.
So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship
Ash-Shu'ara 26:120
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِينَ
Toen verdronken Wij de anderen nadat degenen die achter bleven gered waren.
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones
Ash-Shu'ara 26:121
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk, hierin is zeker een teken, maar de meesten van hen zijn geen gelovigen.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:122
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk! Jullie Heer is zeker de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:123
كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Het volk van ‘Ad verloochende de boodschappers.
Aad denied the messengers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:124
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Toen hun broeder Hoed tegen hen zei: “Zullen jullie Allah niet vrezen en Hem gehoorzamen?”
When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
Ash-Shu'ara 26:125
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Waarlijk, ik ben een betrouwbare boodschapper voor jullie.
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
Ash-Shu'ara 26:126
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:127
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Ik vraag van jullie geen beloning voor. Mijn beloning is slechts van de Heer van de werelden.
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:128
أَتَبۡنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةٗ تَعۡبَثُونَ
Bouwen jullie op elke hoge plaats paleizen zonder doel?
Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves
Ash-Shu'ara 26:129
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُونَ
En nemen jullie voor jullie zelf paleizen alsof jullie daar voor altijd in zullen wonen.
And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally
Ash-Shu'ara 26:130
وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِينَ
En als jullie grijpen, grijpen jullie als tirannen?
And when you strike, you strike as tyrants
Ash-Shu'ara 26:131
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:132
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
vrees degene Die jullie geholpen heeft met alle (goede zaken) die jullie kennen.
And fear He who provided you with that which you know
Ash-Shu'ara 26:133
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنۡعَٰمٖ وَبَنِينَ
Hij heeft jullie versterkt met vee en kinderen (waarom dan ondankbaar?).
Provided you with grazing livestock and children
Ash-Shu'ara 26:134
وَجَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ
En tuinen en bronnen.
And gardens and springs
Ash-Shu'ara 26:135
إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
Waarlijk, ik vrees voor jullie voor de bestraffing van een Grote Dag.”
Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day
Ash-Shu'ara 26:136
قَالُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡنَآ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَٰعِظِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Het maakt ons niet uit of jij preekt of niet tot degenen die preken behoort.
They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors
Ash-Shu'ara 26:137
إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Dit is niets anders dan de gewoonte van de ouderen van vroeger.
This is not but the custom of the former peoples
Ash-Shu'ara 26:138
وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
En wij zullen niet gestraft worden.”
And we are not to be punished
Ash-Shu'ara 26:139
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Dus verloochenden zij hem en Wij vernietigenden hen. Waarlijk! Hierin is zeker een teken maar de meesten van hen waren geen gelovigen.
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:140
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk! Jullie Heer is zeker de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:141
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
(Het volk van) Thamoed verloochenden de Boodschappers.
Thamud denied the messengers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:142
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Toen hun broeder Saleh tot hen zei: “Zullen jullie Allah niet vrezen en Hem gehoorzamen?”
When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
Ash-Shu'ara 26:143
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Ik ben een betrouwbare boodschapper voor jullie.
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
Ash-Shu'ara 26:144
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:145
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Ik vraag van jullie geen beloning voor, mijn beloning is slechts van de Heer van de werelden.
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:146
أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ
Zijn jullie niet veilig achtergelaten met wat jullie hier hebben?
Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death]
Ash-Shu'ara 26:147
فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ
In tuinen en bronnen
Within gardens and springs
Ash-Shu'ara 26:148
وَزُرُوعٖ وَنَخۡلٖ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِيمٞ
En korenvelden en dadelpalmen met zachte bloeikolf.
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit
Ash-Shu'ara 26:149
وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتٗا فَٰرِهِينَ
En jullie hakken met grote vaardigheid huizen uit bergen.
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill
Ash-Shu'ara 26:150
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:151
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
En volg niet het bevel van de buitensporigen.
And do not obey the order of the transgressors
Ash-Shu'ara 26:152
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفۡسِدُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا يُصۡلِحُونَ
Die verderf in het land veroorzaken en het niet herstellen.”
Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend
Ash-Shu'ara 26:153
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Jij ben slechts één die behekst is!
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic
Ash-Shu'ara 26:154
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
Jij bent niets anders dan een mens zoals wij. Geef ons dan een teken als je tot de waarachtige behoort.”
You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:155
قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٞ لَّهَا شِرۡبٞ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ يَوۡمٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
Hij zei: “Hier is een kamelin; zij heeft het recht om (water) te drinken, en jullie hebben het recht om (water) te drinken, (ieder) op een dag die bekend is.
He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day
Ash-Shu'ara 26:156
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٖ فَيَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
Raak haar niet aan om haar te kwetsen opdat jullie niet door de bestraffing op de Grote Dag gegrepen worden.”
And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day
Ash-Shu'ara 26:157
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُواْ نَٰدِمِينَ
Maar zij slachtten haar en toen kregen zij spijt (door de straf die daardoor kwam).
But they hamstrung her and so became regretful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:158
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Dus de bestraffing kwam over hen. Waarlijk, hierin is zeker een teken maar de meesten van hen waren geen gelovigen.
And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:159
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk! Jouw Heer is zeker de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:160
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Het volk van Loet verloochende de boodschappers.
The people of Lot denied the messengers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:161
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Toen hun broeder Loet tegen hen zei: “Vrezen jullie Allah dan niet?
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
Ash-Shu'ara 26:162
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Waarlijk! Ik ben voor jullie een betrouwbare Boodschapper.
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
Ash-Shu'ara 26:163
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:164
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Ik vraag jullie hier geen beloning voor, mijn beloning is slecht bij de Heer van de werelden.
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:165
أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Benaderen jullie de mannen van de werelden.
Do you approach males among the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:166
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَٰجِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَ
En laten jullie degenen die Allah voor jullie als echtgenotes geschapen heeft (links liggen)? Welnee, jullie zijn een overtredend volk!"
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing
Ash-Shu'ara 26:167
قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Als je niet stopt, O Loet! Waarlijk, dan zul jij zeker behoren tot één van degenen die verdreven zullen worden!”
They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted
Ash-Shu'ara 26:168
قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِينَ
Hij zei: “Ik ben zeker één van degenen die jullie (kwade) daad van (sodomie) verwerpt.
He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]
Ash-Shu'ara 26:169
رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهۡلِي مِمَّا يَعۡمَلُونَ
Mijn Heer! Red mij en mijn familie tegen wat zij doen.”
My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do
Ash-Shu'ara 26:170
فَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Dus redden Wij hem en zijn familie, allen, -
So We saved him and his family, all
Ash-Shu'ara 26:171
إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
Behalve een oude vrouw (de vrouw van Loet) onder degenen die achterbleven.
Except an old woman among those who remained behind
Ash-Shu'ara 26:172
ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Hierna vernietigden Wij de anderen.
Then We destroyed the others
Ash-Shu'ara 26:173
وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم مَّطَرٗاۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
En Wij lieten op hen een regen vallen (van stenen). En hoe kwaad was de regen van degenen die gewaarschuwd waren.
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned
Ash-Shu'ara 26:174
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk, hierin is zeker een teken maar de meesten van hen waren geen gelovigen.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:175
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk! Jullie Heer is zeker de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:176
كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ لۡـَٔيۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
De bewoners van Al-Aiyka verloochenden hun boodschappers.
The companions of the thicket denied the messengers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:177
إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَيۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Toen Shoe’aib tegen hen zei: “Zullen jullie Allah dan niet vrezen?
When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah
Ash-Shu'ara 26:178
إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ
Ik ben voor jullie een betrouwbare boodschapper.
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger
Ash-Shu'ara 26:179
فَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
Vrees Allah dus en gehoorzaam mij.
So fear Allah and obey me
Ash-Shu'ara 26:180
وَمَآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Ik vraag jullie hier geen beloning voor, mijn beloning is slecht bij de Heer van de werelden.
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:181
۞أَوۡفُواْ ٱلۡكَيۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِينَ
Geef het volle maat en veroorzaak geen vermindering.
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss
Ash-Shu'ara 26:182
وَزِنُواْ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمِ
En weeg met een goede en eerlijke weegschaal.
And weigh with an even balance
Ash-Shu'ara 26:183
وَلَا تَبۡخَسُواْ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِينَ
Bedrieg de mensen niet door hun zaken te verminderen, noch doe kwaad, veroorzaak corruptie en ellende in het land.
And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption
Ash-Shu'ara 26:184
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
En vrees Hem Die jullie geschapen heeft en de generaties van voorheen.”
And fear He who created you and the former creation
Ash-Shu'ara 26:185
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ
Zij zeiden: “Jij bent slechts één van de beheksten!
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic
Ash-Shu'ara 26:186
وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
Jij bent slechts een mens zoals wij en waarlijk, wij denken dat jij één van de leugenaars bent!
You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars
Ash-Shu'ara 26:187
فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
Laat dus een stuk van de hemel op ons vallen als je tot de waarachtigen behoort!”
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:188
قَالَ رَبِّيٓ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
Hij zei: “Mijn Heer is Alwetend over wat jullie doen.”
He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do
Ash-Shu'ara 26:189
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Maar zij verloochenden hem, dus de bestraffing van de dag van de schaduw greep hen, voorwaar dat was de bestraffing van een geweldige dag.
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day
Ash-Shu'ara 26:190
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
Waarlijk hierin is zeker een teken maar de meesten van hen waren geen gelovigen.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:191
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
En waarlijk! Jullie Heer is zeker de Almachtige, de Genadevolle.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:192
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
En waarlijk, dit is een openbaring van de Heer van de werelden.
And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds
Ash-Shu'ara 26:193
نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِينُ
Waarmee de betrouwbare ziel (Djibriel) neerdaalde.
The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down
Ash-Shu'ara 26:194
عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ
Op jouw hart, dat je één van de waarschuwers moge zijn.
Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners
Ash-Shu'ara 26:195
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيّٖ مُّبِينٖ
In de duidelijke Arabische taal.
In a clear Arabic language
Ash-Shu'ara 26:196
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِي زُبُرِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
En waarlijk, het is (aangekondigd) in de Boeken van vroegere volkeren.
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples
Ash-Shu'ara 26:197
أَوَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَايَةً أَن يَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُاْ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ
Is het geen teken voor hen dat de geleerden van de Kinderen van Israël het als (waarheid) kenden?
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel
Ash-Shu'ara 26:198
وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِينَ
En als Wij het hadden geopenbaard aan één van de niet-Arabieren,
And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
Ash-Shu'ara 26:199
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيۡهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
En hij had het voor hen gereciteerd, dan zouden zij het niet geloofd hebben.
And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it
Ash-Shu'ara 26:200
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنَٰهُ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
En zo hebben Wij ervoor gezorgd dat het (ongeloof) de harten van de misdadigers binnentrad.
Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals
Ash-Shu'ara 26:201
لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
Zij zullen er niet in geloven totdat zij de pijnlijke bestraffing zien.
They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment
Ash-Shu'ara 26:202
فَيَأۡتِيَهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ
Het zal plotseling tot hen komen, terwijl zij het niet beseffen.
And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not
Ash-Shu'ara 26:203
فَيَقُولُواْ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ
Dan zullen zij zeggen: “Kunnen wij uitstel krijgen?”
And they will say, "May we be reprieved
Ash-Shu'ara 26:204
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
Zouden zij dan wensen dat Onze Bestraffing bespoedigd werd?
So for Our punishment are they impatient
Ash-Shu'ara 26:205
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ سِنِينَ
Zien jullie het dan niet als Wij hen nog jaren laten genieten,
Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
Ash-Shu'ara 26:206
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَ
En daarna komt tot hen die (bestraffing) die hen beloofd was!
And then there came to them that which they were promised
Ash-Shu'ara 26:207
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُمَتَّعُونَ
Alles waarvan zij genoten zal voor hen niet nuttig zijn (het zal hun niet redden).
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided
Ash-Shu'ara 26:208
وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
En nooit hebben Wij een stad vernietigd zonder dat er waarschuwers waren –
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
Ash-Shu'ara 26:209
ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
Door een herinnering, en nooit waren Wij onrechtvaardig.
As a reminder; and never have We been unjust
Ash-Shu'ara 26:210
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
En het zijn niet de duivels die het (de Koran) hebben neergedaald.
And the devils have not brought the revelation down
Ash-Shu'ara 26:211
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِي لَهُمۡ وَمَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
Het zou hen (trouwens) niet passen, noch zouden zij daartoe in staat zijn.
It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able
Ash-Shu'ara 26:212
إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ
Voorwaar, het afluisteren van (de engelen) hun woorden was uitgesloten (d.m.v. vlammende sterren).
Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed
Ash-Shu'ara 26:213
فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِينَ
Aanroep dus niet bij Allah een andere god omdat je tot degene zal behoren die een bestraffing zullen krijgen.
So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished
Ash-Shu'ara 26:214
وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ
En waarschuw je naaste verwanten.
And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred
Ash-Shu'ara 26:215
وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
En verlaag je vleugens (wees nederig) voor de gelovigen die jou volgen.
And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers
Ash-Shu'ara 26:216
فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّي بَرِيٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ
En als zij jou niet gehoorzamen zeg: “Ik distantieer mij van wat jullie doen (als wij de Soennah als een spelletje zien dan zal de Profeet zich van ons distantieren, dus geen voorspraak op de dag des oordeels!)."
And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing
Ash-Shu'ara 26:217
وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
En leg je vertrouwen in de Almachtige, de Genadevolle, -
And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful
Ash-Shu'ara 26:218
ٱلَّذِي يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
Degene die jou ziet wanneer je opstaat (voor het nachtgebed, dit is zeer belangrijk, ook al is het maar één keer per week).
Who sees you when you arise
Ash-Shu'ara 26:219
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
En jullie bewegingen onder degenen die neerknielen.
And your movement among those who prostrate
Ash-Shu'ara 26:220
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
Voorwaar! Hij, alleen Hij, is de Alhorende, de Alwetende.
Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing
Ash-Shu'ara 26:221
هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
Zal ik jullie vertellen op wie de duivels neerdalen?
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend
Ash-Shu'ara 26:222
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٖ
Zij dalen neer op elke leugenaar en zondig persoon.
They descend upon every sinful liar
Ash-Shu'ara 26:223
يُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَٰذِبُونَ
Die gehoor geeft, en de meesten van hen zijn leugenaars.
They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars
Ash-Shu'ara 26:224
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
En de dichters, de dwalenden volgen hen,
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them
Ash-Shu'ara 26:225
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادٖ يَهِيمُونَ
Zie je dan niet dat zij in iedere vallei over ieder onderwerp spreken in hun gedichten? –
Do you not see that in every valley they roam
Ash-Shu'ara 26:226
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ
En dat zij zeggen wat zij niet doen.
And that they say what they do not do
Ash-Shu'ara 26:227
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرٗا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٖ يَنقَلِبُونَ
Behalve degenen die geloven en goede daden verrichten en Allah veelvuldig gedenken. En zij die het goed maken na het plegen van onrecht. En betreft de onrechtpleger (die geen eerlijk berouw tonen) zullen er gauw achter komen tot welke plaats hun (uiteindelijke) terugkeer zal zijn.
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned
