Celui qui pardonne le péché — un croyant de la maison de Pharaon prend la parole.
Ghafir 40:1
حمٓ
Hâ-Mîm.
Ha, Meem
Ghafir 40:2
تَنزِيلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡعَلِيمِ
Le Coran est une révélation d’Allah, le Tout-Puissant, l’Omniscient,
The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing
Ghafir 40:3
غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوۡبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ذِي ٱلطَّوۡلِۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ إِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
Celui qui pardonne les péchés de Ses serviteurs et accepte leur repentir, Celui dont le châtiment est terrible et les dons incommensurables. Il n’est de divinité digne d’être adorée que Lui et c’est à Lui que tout fera retour.
The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination
Ghafir 40:4
مَا يُجَٰدِلُ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَا يَغۡرُرۡكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
Seuls mettent en doute les versets d’Allah ceux qui ont rejeté la foi. Que leur activité à travers le pays ne t’abuse surtout pas.
No one disputes concerning the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land
Ghafir 40:5
كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۖ وَهَمَّتۡ كُلُّ أُمَّةِۭ بِرَسُولِهِمۡ لِيَأۡخُذُوهُۖ وَجَٰدَلُواْ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ لِيُدۡحِضُواْ بِهِ ٱلۡحَقَّ فَأَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ
Avant eux, le peuple de Noé avait crié au mensonge, suivi par d’autres peuples impies. Chaque nation a projeté d’assassiner son Messager et usé de faux arguments pour réfuter la vérité. Je me suis donc saisi d’eux. Quel fut alors Mon châtiment !
The people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty
Ghafir 40:6
وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ
C’est ainsi que fut prononcé l’arrêt de ton Seigneur contre ceux qui ont rejeté la foi : ils sont voués au feu de l’Enfer.
And thus has the word of your Lord come into effect upon those who disbelieved that they are companions of the Fire
Ghafir 40:7
ٱلَّذِينَ يَحۡمِلُونَ ٱلۡعَرۡشَ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَيُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۖ رَبَّنَا وَسِعۡتَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٖ رَّحۡمَةٗ وَعِلۡمٗا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُواْ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Ceux qui portent le Trône et ceux qui se tiennent autour, parmi les anges, célèbrent par les louanges la gloire de leur Seigneur en qui ils proclament leur foi et implorent Son pardon pour les croyants, disant : « Seigneur ! Toi dont la miséricorde s’étend à toutes les créatures et la science embrasse toute chose, veuille pardonner à ceux qui se repentent et suivent Ta voie, les préserver du châtiment du Brasier
Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire
Ghafir 40:8
رَبَّنَا وَأَدۡخِلۡهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمۡ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَآئِهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمۡۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
et les admettre, Seigneur, dans les jardins d’Eden que Tu leur as promis, avec ceux de leurs ancêtres, de leurs épouses et de leurs descendants qui auront été vertueux. C’est Toi, en vérité, le Tout-Puissant, l’infiniment Sage.
Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
Ghafir 40:9
وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِۚ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوۡمَئِذٖ فَقَدۡ رَحِمۡتَهُۥۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
Veuille les préserver de tout mal. C’est seulement celui que Tu préserveras ce Jour-là de tout mal qui bénéficiera de Ta miséricorde. Voilà le bonheur suprême. »
And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day - You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment
Ghafir 40:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنَادَوۡنَ لَمَقۡتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكۡبَرُ مِن مَّقۡتِكُمۡ أَنفُسَكُمۡ إِذۡ تُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ فَتَكۡفُرُونَ
Quant aux impies, ils seront interpellés en ces termes : « La haine que vous inspiriez à Allah lorsque, appelés à croire sur terre, vous rejetiez la foi, est plus vive encore que la haine que vous éprouvez aujourd’hui pour vous-mêmes. »
Indeed, those who disbelieve will be addressed, "The hatred of Allah for you was [even] greater than your hatred of yourselves [this Day in Hell] when you were invited to faith, but you refused
Ghafir 40:11
قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ وَأَحۡيَيۡتَنَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَٱعۡتَرَفۡنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلۡ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٖ مِّن سَبِيلٖ
Ils diront : « Seigneur ! Tu nous as donné par deux fois la mort et par deux fois la vie. Nous reconnaissons nos péchés. Y a-t-il un moyen de sortir d’ici ? »
They will say, "Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way
Ghafir 40:12
ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَحۡدَهُۥ كَفَرۡتُمۡ وَإِن يُشۡرَكۡ بِهِۦ تُؤۡمِنُواْۚ فَٱلۡحُكۡمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡعَلِيِّ ٱلۡكَبِيرِ
« Il en est ainsi car, lorsque l’unicité d’Allah était proclamée, vous refusiez de croire, mais lorsque de fausses divinités Lui étaient associées, vous vous soumettiez. Allah, le Très Haut, le Très Grand, détient seul le pouvoir de décision. »
[They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand
Ghafir 40:13
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقٗاۚ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ
C’est Lui qui vous montre Ses signes et qui, du ciel, fait descendre pour vous une pluie bienfaisante. Mais seul en tire des leçons celui qui revient sans cesse au Seigneur.
It is He who shows you His signs and sends down to you from the sky, provision. But none will remember except he who turns back [in repentance]
Ghafir 40:14
فَٱدۡعُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Invoquez donc Allah en Lui vouant un culte exclusif et sincère, n’en déplaise aux mécréants !
So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it
Ghafir 40:15
رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ يُلۡقِي ٱلرُّوحَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوۡمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ
Il possède, dans Sa transcendance, les attributs les plus sublimes et le Trône immense. Il fait descendre, par Son ordre, la Révélation sur celui de Ses serviteurs qu’Il choisit afin de mettre en garde les hommes contre le Jour de la Grande rencontre,
[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting
Ghafir 40:16
يَوۡمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَۖ لَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنۡهُمۡ شَيۡءٞۚ لِّمَنِ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡوَٰحِدِ ٱلۡقَهَّارِ
Jour où les hommes, qui ne pourront se dérober aux regards, comparaîtront devant Allah auquel aucune de leurs œuvres n’échappera. « Qui dispose aujourd’hui de l’autorité suprême ? » « Allah, l’Unique qui a soumis l’ensemble de la Création à Son pouvoir.
The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, the One, the Prevailing
Ghafir 40:17
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡۚ لَا ظُلۡمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ
Aujourd’hui, chaque être sera rétribué selon ses œuvres. Il n’y aura, aujourd’hui, aucune injustice. Allah est prompt dans Ses comptes. »
This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account
Ghafir 40:18
وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةِ إِذِ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ لَدَى ٱلۡحَنَاجِرِ كَٰظِمِينَۚ مَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنۡ حَمِيمٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٖ يُطَاعُ
Avertis les hommes du Jour imminent où les cœurs et les gorges seront serrés par l’angoisse. Les impies ne pourront alors bénéficier ni de l’aide d’un proche compagnon, ni d’une quelconque intercession.
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed
Ghafir 40:19
يَعۡلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ ٱلۡأَعۡيُنِ وَمَا تُخۡفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ
Allah connaît aussi bien les regards furtifs que le secret des cœurs.
He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal
Ghafir 40:20
وَٱللَّهُ يَقۡضِي بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقۡضُونَ بِشَيۡءٍۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ
Il juge les hommes en toute équité, tandis que les fausses divinités que les impies invoquent en dehors de Lui n’ont aucunement le pouvoir de juger. Allah est Celui qui entend tout et voit tout.
And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah - He is the Hearing, the Seeing
Ghafir 40:21
۞أَوَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٖ
N’ont-ils pas parcouru le monde et vu ce qu’il est advenu des peuples ayant vécu avant eux ? Supérieurs à eux en puissance, ceux-ci ont laissé sur terre bien plus de vestiges témoignant de leur magnificence. Pour prix de leur impiété, Allah leur a pourtant infligé un châtiment dont nul ne put les protéger.
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector
Ghafir 40:22
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانَت تَّأۡتِيهِمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُواْ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِيّٞ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ
Il en fut ainsi parce qu’ils ont rejeté toutes les preuves apportées par leurs Messagers, méritant ainsi d’être châtiés par Allah qui est si Fort et dont le châtiment est si terrible.
That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment
Ghafir 40:23
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ
Nous avons envoyé Moïse, assisté de Nos signes et de preuves éclatantes,
And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority
Ghafir 40:24
إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَقَٰرُونَ فَقَالُواْ سَٰحِرٞ كَذَّابٞ
à Pharaon, Haman et Coré qui le traitèrent de magicien et d’imposteur.
To Pharaoh, Haman and Qarun; but they said, "[He is] a magician and a liar
Ghafir 40:25
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ ٱقۡتُلُوٓاْ أَبۡنَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ وَٱسۡتَحۡيُواْ نِسَآءَهُمۡۚ وَمَا كَيۡدُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٖ
Malgré les miracles produits de Notre part sous leurs yeux, ils dirent : « Que soient tués les fils de ses coreligionnaires et que leurs filles soient épargnées ! » Mais les manœuvres des impies sont toujours vouées à l’échec.
And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive." But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error
Ghafir 40:26
وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذَرُونِيٓ أَقۡتُلۡ مُوسَىٰ وَلۡيَدۡعُ رَبَّهُۥٓۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمۡ أَوۡ أَن يُظۡهِرَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡفَسَادَ
Pharaon dit : « Laissez-moi tuer Moïse ! Qu’il invoque donc son Seigneur. J’ai bien peur en effet qu’il ne corrompe votre religion ou ne répande le mal dans le pays. »
And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land
Ghafir 40:27
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّي عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡحِسَابِ
Moïse dit : « J’implore la protection de mon Seigneur, qui est aussi le vôtre, contre tout être orgueilleux qui renie le Jour du jugement. »
But Moses said, "Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account
Ghafir 40:28
وَقَالَ رَجُلٞ مُّؤۡمِنٞ مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَكۡتُمُ إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقۡتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَن يَقُولَ رَبِّيَ ٱللَّهُ وَقَدۡ جَآءَكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ وَإِن يَكُ كَٰذِبٗا فَعَلَيۡهِ كَذِبُهُۥۖ وَإِن يَكُ صَادِقٗا يُصِبۡكُم بَعۡضُ ٱلَّذِي يَعِدُكُمۡۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٞ كَذَّابٞ
Un croyant de la famille de Pharaon, qui dissimulait sa foi, intervint alors : « Allez-vous tuer un homme simplement parce qu’il affirme que son Seigneur est Allah, alors qu’il vous a apporté de la part de votre Seigneur toutes les preuves de sa sincérité ? S’il ment, il subira lui-même les conséquences de son mensonge. Mais s’il dit la vérité, alors vous subirez une partie du châtiment dont il vous a menacés. Allah ne saurait d’ailleurs guider un imposteur qui transgresse Ses lois.
And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is Allah' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar
Ghafir 40:29
يَٰقَوۡمِ لَكُمُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ ظَٰهِرِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَمَن يَنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأۡسِ ٱللَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَاۚ قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمۡ إِلَّا مَآ أَرَىٰ وَمَآ أَهۡدِيكُمۡ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ
Mon peuple ! Nous détenons aujourd’hui le pouvoir dans ce pays qui nous est totalement soumis. Mais qui pourrait nous protéger du châtiment d’Allah s’il devait s’abattre sur nous ? » Pharaon dit : « Je ne vous recommande que ce que j’estime bénéfique pour vous et vous indique seulement la meilleure décision à prendre. »
O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?" Pharaoh said, "I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct
Ghafir 40:30
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُم مِّثۡلَ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ
Le croyant reprit : « Mon peuple ! Je crains pour vous un sort identique à celui subi par les peuples impies,
And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies
Ghafir 40:31
مِثۡلَ دَأۡبِ قَوۡمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۚ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلۡمٗا لِّلۡعِبَادِ
à l’image du peuple de Noé, des ‘Ad, des Thamoud et des nations qui vécurent après eux. Allah n’entend pas traiter injustement Ses serviteurs.
Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants
Ghafir 40:32
وَيَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلتَّنَادِ
Mon peuple ! Je crains pour vous les tourments du Jour où les hommes s’interpelleront les uns les autres,
And O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of Calling
Ghafir 40:33
يَوۡمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدۡبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمٖۗ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادٖ
Jour où vous tenterez de fuir, mais sans que nul ne puisse vous protéger des rigueurs d’Allah. Nul ne saurait guider celui qu’Allah laisse s’égarer.
The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide
Ghafir 40:34
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبۡلُ بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلۡتُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلۡتُمۡ لَن يَبۡعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رَسُولٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٞ مُّرۡتَابٌ
Déjà, avant Moïse, Joseph vous avait apporté des preuves parfaitement claires dont vous n’avez cessé de douter. Puis, à sa mort, vous avez prétendu qu’Allah n’enverrait plus jamais de Messager. » C’est ainsi qu’Allah laisse s’égarer ceux qui se montrent rebelles à la vérité et qui ne cessent de douter,
And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allah send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic
Ghafir 40:35
ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡۖ كَبُرَ مَقۡتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطۡبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلۡبِ مُتَكَبِّرٖ جَبَّارٖ
ceux qui, sans preuves, contestent les signes du Seigneur, attitude qu’Allah et les croyants ont en horreur. C’est ainsi qu’Allah appose un sceau sur le cœur de tout tyran pétri d’orgueil.
Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant
Ghafir 40:36
وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ ٱبۡنِ لِي صَرۡحٗا لَّعَلِّيٓ أَبۡلُغُ ٱلۡأَسۡبَٰبَ
Pharaon ordonna : « Haman ! Fais-moi construire une tour afin que je puisse atteindre les portes,
And Pharaoh said, "O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways
Ghafir 40:37
أَسۡبَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِبٗاۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِۚ وَمَا كَيۡدُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِلَّا فِي تَبَابٖ
les portes des cieux, et voir le dieu de Moïse que je tiens néanmoins pour un menteur. » C’est ainsi que ses œuvres impies furent embellies aux yeux de Pharaon qui fut ainsi détourné de la vérité. Les manœuvres de Pharaon étaient inévitablement vouées à l’échec.
The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin
Ghafir 40:38
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهۡدِكُمۡ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ
Le croyant reprit : « Mon peuple ! Suivez-moi, je vous indiquerai le droit chemin.
And he who believed said, "O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct
Ghafir 40:39
يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا مَتَٰعٞ وَإِنَّ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ هِيَ دَارُ ٱلۡقَرَارِ
Mon peuple ! Cette vie n’est que jouissance éphémère. Seule la demeure de l’au-delà est éternelle.
O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement
Ghafir 40:40
مَنۡ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةٗ فَلَا يُجۡزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثۡلَهَاۖ وَمَنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوۡ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ يَدۡخُلُونَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ يُرۡزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٖ
Quiconque commettra un péché ne sera rétribué qu’à hauteur de son méfait. Quant à celui, homme ou femme, qui accomplira de bonnes œuvres, tout en étant croyant, il entrera au Paradis où il sera comblé de bienfaits.
Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account
Ghafir 40:41
۞وَيَٰقَوۡمِ مَا لِيٓ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ
Mon peuple ! Pourquoi, alors que je vous invite à suivre la voie du salut, vous m’appelez à suivre une voie qui me conduira tout droit en Enfer ?
And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire
Ghafir 40:42
تَدۡعُونَنِي لِأَكۡفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيۡسَ لِي بِهِۦ عِلۡمٞ وَأَنَا۠ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡغَفَّـٰرِ
Vous m’appelez à renier Allah en Lui associant des divinités dont je n’ai aucune connaissance, alors que moi-même je vous invite à vous tourner vers le Tout-Puissant, le Tout-Clément.
You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver
Ghafir 40:43
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ لَيۡسَ لَهُۥ دَعۡوَةٞ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَلَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ هُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ
Nul doute que ces divinités que vous m’invitez à adorer ne pourront jamais, ici-bas comme dans l’au-delà, exaucer vos prières, que c’est à Allah que nous devons tous retourner et que ce sont les impies qui, pour leurs excès, sont voués au feu de l’Enfer.
Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah, and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire
Ghafir 40:44
فَسَتَذۡكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡۚ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمۡرِيٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ
Vous vous souviendrez un jour de mes paroles. Je m’en remets entièrement à Allah qui connaît parfaitement Ses serviteurs. »
And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants
Ghafir 40:45
فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُواْۖ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ
Allah mit ce croyant à l’abri de leurs intentions criminelles, tandis que Pharaon et ses sujets furent cernés par le plus affreux des châtiments.
So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment
Ghafir 40:46
ٱلنَّارُ يُعۡرَضُونَ عَلَيۡهَا غُدُوّٗا وَعَشِيّٗاۚ وَيَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدۡخِلُوٓاْ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلۡعَذَابِ
Ils sont exposés au feu matin et soir et lorsque l’Heure sonnera, il sera ordonné : « Introduisez Pharaon et les siens dans le plus terrible des tourments. »
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour appears [it will be said], "Make the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment
Ghafir 40:47
وَإِذۡ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُاْ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمۡ تَبَعٗا فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّغۡنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ
Les impies se disputeront en Enfer avec ceux qui furent leurs chefs sur terre : « Nous étions vos suiveurs, leur diront-ils. Pouvez-vous donc aujourd’hui nous soulager d’une partie des tourments de l’Enfer ? »
And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire
Ghafir 40:48
قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُلّٞ فِيهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ حَكَمَ بَيۡنَ ٱلۡعِبَادِ
Leurs chefs répondront : « Nous subissons tous le même sort ! Allah a déjà prononcé Son jugement à l’encontre de Ses serviteurs. »
Those who had been arrogant will say, "Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants
Ghafir 40:49
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدۡعُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ يُخَفِّفۡ عَنَّا يَوۡمٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ
Les damnés supplieront les gardiens de la Géhenne : « Priez votre Seigneur d’alléger ne serait-ce qu’un jour notre supplice ! »
And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment
Ghafir 40:50
قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَأۡتِيكُمۡ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۚ قَالُواْ فَٱدۡعُواْۗ وَمَا دُعَـٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٍ
Les gardiens répliqueront : « Vos Messagers ne sont-ils pas venus vous apporter des preuves évidentes ? » « Si », avoueront-ils. Les gardiens ajouteront : « Adressez donc vous-mêmes vos prières. Mais sachez que les prières des impies ne sauraient être exaucées. »
They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error
Ghafir 40:51
إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَيَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلۡأَشۡهَٰدُ
Nous ferons, en vérité, triompher Nos Messagers et les croyants ici-bas et le Jour où se dresseront les témoins,
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand
Ghafir 40:52
يَوۡمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مَعۡذِرَتُهُمۡۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ
Jour où leurs justifications ne seront d’aucune utilité aux impies qui seront poursuivis par la malédiction et connaîtront le sort le plus misérable.
The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home
Ghafir 40:53
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Nous avons indiqué à Moïse la voie du salut et confié aux fils d’Israël les Ecritures,
And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture
Ghafir 40:54
هُدٗى وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ
sûre direction et message édifiant pour les hommes doués de raison.
As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding
Ghafir 40:55
فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَٰرِ
Supporte donc patiemment leurs attaques, car la promesse d’Allah s’accomplira inéluctablement. Implore le pardon de tes péchés et célèbre matin et soir, par les louanges, la gloire de ton Seigneur.
So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning
Ghafir 40:56
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡ إِن فِي صُدُورِهِمۡ إِلَّا كِبۡرٞ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِۚ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ
Ceux qui, sans preuves, mettent en doute les signes d’Allah sont poussés par une ambition qu’ils ne sauraient assouvir. Implore donc la protection d’Allah, Celui qui entend tout et voit tout.
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing
Ghafir 40:57
لَخَلۡقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ خَلۡقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
La création des cieux et de la terre est bien plus extraordinaire que la création des hommes. Mais la plupart d’entre eux n’en sont pas conscients.
The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know
Ghafir 40:58
وَمَا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ وَٱلۡبَصِيرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَلَا ٱلۡمُسِيٓءُۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
De même que l’aveugle n’est pas comparable au voyant, le croyant qui accomplit le bien n’est en rien comparable à celui qui commet le mal. Mais vous êtes si peu enclins à réfléchir.
And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember
Ghafir 40:59
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞ لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
L’Heure sonnera inéluctablement, mais la plupart des hommes ne croient pas en son avènement.
Indeed, the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - but most of the people do not believe
Ghafir 40:60
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدۡعُونِيٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدۡخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
Votre Seigneur a dit : « Invoquez-Moi, Je vous exaucerai. Quant à ceux qui, par orgueil, refusent de M’adorer, ils entreront couverts d’opprobre dans la Géhenne. »
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible
Ghafir 40:61
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ
C’est Allah qui a établi l’obscurité de la nuit pour votre repos et la lumière du jour pour vos activités. Allah, en vérité, est toute bonté envers les hommes qui, pour la plupart, ne sont pas reconnaissants.
It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people are not grateful
Ghafir 40:62
ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ
Tel est Allah, votre Seigneur, Créateur de toute chose. Il n’est de divinité digne d’être adorée que Lui. Comment pouvez-vous encore vous détourner ?
That is Allah, your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded
Ghafir 40:63
كَذَٰلِكَ يُؤۡفَكُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجۡحَدُونَ
C’est ainsi que ceux qui ont renié Nos signes se sont détournés de la vérité.
Thus were those [before you] deluded who were rejecting the signs of Allah
Ghafir 40:64
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَرَارٗا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءٗ وَصَوَّرَكُمۡ فَأَحۡسَنَ صُوَرَكُمۡ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡۖ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
C’est Allah qui, pour vous, a fait de la terre une demeure parfaitement stable et du ciel un toit, qui vous a donné la forme la plus accomplie et vous dispense d’excellentes nourritures. Tel est Allah, votre Seigneur ! Béni soit Allah, Seigneur de la Création !
It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds
Ghafir 40:65
هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱدۡعُوهُ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَۗ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Il est le Vivant. Il n’est de divinité en droit d’être adorée que Lui. Invoquez-Le donc en Lui vouant un culte exclusif et sincère. Louange à Allah, Seigneur de l’univers !
He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds
Ghafir 40:66
۞قُلۡ إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِيَ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّي وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Dis : « Il m’a été interdit, à travers les versets que j’ai reçus de mon Seigneur, d’adorer ceux que vous invoquez en dehors d’Allah et il m’a été ordonné de me soumettre entièrement au Seigneur des mondes. »
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah once the clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds
Ghafir 40:67
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةٖ ثُمَّ مِنۡ عَلَقَةٖ ثُمَّ يُخۡرِجُكُمۡ طِفۡلٗا ثُمَّ لِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَشُدَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُواْ شُيُوخٗاۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَلِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَجَلٗا مُّسَمّٗى وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ
C’est Lui qui vous a créés de terre, puis d’un liquide insignifiant, puis d’un corps s’accrochant à la matrice qui donnera naissance à un enfant destiné à atteindre sa pleine maturité, puis la vieillesse. Certains d’entre vous meurent cependant avant cela. C’est ainsi que vous parvenez au terme déjà fixé de votre vie. Peut-être saurez-vous le méditer !
It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason
Ghafir 40:68
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمۡرٗا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
C’est Lui qui donne la vie et la mort. Il Lui suffit, lorsqu’Il décrète une chose, de dire : « Sois ! » et celle-ci s’accomplit.
He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is
Ghafir 40:69
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أَنَّىٰ يُصۡرَفُونَ
Ne vois-tu pas comment ceux qui mettent en doute les versets d’Allah se détournent de la vérité,
Do you not consider those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah - how are they averted
Ghafir 40:70
ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَبِمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا بِهِۦ رُسُلَنَاۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ
ceux qui renient le Coran et le message que Nous avons révélé à Nos Messagers ? Mais ils sauront bientôt ce qui les attend
Those who deny the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers - they are going to know
Ghafir 40:71
إِذِ ٱلۡأَغۡلَٰلُ فِيٓ أَعۡنَٰقِهِمۡ وَٱلسَّلَٰسِلُ يُسۡحَبُونَ
lorsque, des carcans au cou et solidement enchaînés, ils seront traînés
When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged
Ghafir 40:72
فِي ٱلۡحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِي ٱلنَّارِ يُسۡجَرُونَ
dans une eau portée à ébullition, puis dans le Feu où ils sont voués à brûler.
In boiling water; then in the Fire they will be filled [with flame]
Ghafir 40:73
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تُشۡرِكُونَ
Il leur sera alors demandé : « Où sont donc ces divinités que vous adoriez
Then it will be said to them, "Where is that which you used to associate [with Him in worship]
Ghafir 40:74
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالُواْ ضَلُّواْ عَنَّا بَل لَّمۡ نَكُن نَّدۡعُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
en dehors d’Allah ? » Ils répondront : « Elles ont disparu. Le culte que nous leur rendions n’était, en réalité, que pure vanité. » C’est ainsi qu’Allah laisse les impies s’égarer.
Other than Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us; rather, we did not used to invoke previously anything." Thus does Allah put astray the disbelievers
Ghafir 40:75
ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَفۡرَحُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَمۡرَحُونَ
« Il en est ainsi parce que vous affichiez sur terre, sans aucune justification, une joie pleine d’insolence.
[The angels will say], "That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently
Ghafir 40:76
ٱدۡخُلُوٓاْ أَبۡوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
Franchissez les portes de la Géhenne pour y demeurer éternellement. Infâme demeure que celle des orgueilleux ! »
Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant
Ghafir 40:77
فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۚ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيۡنَا يُرۡجَعُونَ
Supporte donc patiemment leurs attaques, car la promesse d’Allah s’accomplira certainement. Que Nous leur infligions de ton vivant une partie du châtiment dont Nous les menaçons ou que Nous reprenions ton âme avant cela, c’est à Nous qu’ils seront ramenés.
So be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned
Ghafir 40:78
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلٗا مِّن قَبۡلِكَ مِنۡهُم مَّن قَصَصۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡ عَلَيۡكَۗ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأۡتِيَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ قُضِيَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ
Nous avons, avant toi, envoyé des Messagers, certains dont Nous t’avons fait le récit et d’autres dont Nous ne t’avons pas fait mention. Il ne fut donné à aucun Messager de produire un miracle sans Notre permission. Puis, lorsque l’arrêt d’Allah sera prononcé, il sera jugé en toute équité entre les Messagers et ceux qui les auront reniés, voués à la perdition.
And We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah. So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all]
Ghafir 40:79
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمَ لِتَرۡكَبُواْ مِنۡهَا وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
C’est Allah qui a créé les bestiaux qui, pour certains, vous servent de montures, et dont vous tirez votre nourriture
It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat
Ghafir 40:80
وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَلِتَبۡلُغُواْ عَلَيۡهَا حَاجَةٗ فِي صُدُورِكُمۡ وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ
et bien d’autres avantages. Sur le dos de certains de ces animaux, vous pouvez atteindre de lointaines destinations, de même qu’à bord des vaisseaux qui vous transportent en mer.
And for you therein are [other] benefits and that you may realize upon them a need which is in your breasts; and upon them and upon ships you are carried
Ghafir 40:81
وَيُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَأَيَّ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ
Il vous expose clairement Ses signes. Lequel des signes d’Allah allez-vous donc rejeter ?
And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny
Ghafir 40:82
أَفَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُوٓاْ أَكۡثَرَ مِنۡهُمۡ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
N’ont-ils pas parcouru le monde et médité le sort des peuples du passé ? Supérieurs à eux en nombre et en puissance, ceux-ci ont laissé sur terre bien plus de vestiges, témoins de leur magnificence. Mais les richesses qu’ils ont pu amasser ne leur furent d’aucune utilité.
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn
Ghafir 40:83
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
Lorsque leurs Messagers leur apportèrent des preuves évidentes, ils restèrent fièrement attachés à leurs croyances et furent donc cernés par le châtiment dont ils s’étaient moqués.
And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule
Ghafir 40:84
فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡاْ بَأۡسَنَا قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحۡدَهُۥ وَكَفَرۡنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشۡرِكِينَ
A la vue de Nos rigueurs, ils dirent : « Nous croyons en Allah seul et renions les fausses divinités que nous Lui avons associées. »
And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him
Ghafir 40:85
فَلَمۡ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمۡ إِيمَٰنُهُمۡ لَمَّا رَأَوۡاْ بَأۡسَنَاۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِي قَدۡ خَلَتۡ فِي عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Mais proclamer leur foi à la vue de Notre châtiment ne pouvait leur être d’aucune utilité, conformément à la loi immuable appliquée par Allah à Ses créatures. Les impies furent donc à jamais perdus.
But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all]
