Soera Ghafir (40) — De Vergevende · غافر
Mekkaanse soera, 85 verzen, als 60e geopenbaard.
De Vergever van de zonde — een gelovige uit het huis van Farao verheft zijn stem.
Ghafir 40:1
حمٓ
Ha Miem.
Ha, Meem
Ghafir 40:2
تَنزِيلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡعَلِيمِ
De openbaring van het Boek is van Allah, de Almachtige, de Alwetende.
The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing
Ghafir 40:3
غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوۡبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ذِي ٱلطَّوۡلِۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ إِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
De Vergevende van de zonde, de Aanvaarder van het berouw, de Strenge in bestraffing, de Schenker (van gunsten). Geen heeft het recht om aanbeden te worden behalve Hij, tot Hem is de uiteindelijke terugkeer.
The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination
Ghafir 40:4
مَا يُجَٰدِلُ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَا يَغۡرُرۡكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
Geen redetwist over de tekenen van Allah behalve degene die ongelovig zijn. Laat niet hun weelderige om door het land te reizen jou bedriegen.
No one disputes concerning the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land
Ghafir 40:5
كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۖ وَهَمَّتۡ كُلُّ أُمَّةِۭ بِرَسُولِهِمۡ لِيَأۡخُذُوهُۖ وَجَٰدَلُواْ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ لِيُدۡحِضُواْ بِهِ ٱلۡحَقَّ فَأَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ
Ook het volk van Noeh en hun bondgenoten hebben hiervoor hen ontkent (de boodschappers), en ieder (ongelovig) volk heeft plannen samengesmeed tegen hun boodschappers, om deze te grijpen, en redetwisten met valse argumenten om de waarheid te verwerpen. Dus greep Ik hen en hoe (vreselijk) was Mijn bestraffing!
The people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty
Ghafir 40:6
وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتۡ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ
Zo is het Woord van jullie Heer tegen degenen die ongelovig waren gerechtvaardigd, zodat zij de bewoners van het vuur zullen zijn!
And thus has the word of your Lord come into effect upon those who disbelieved that they are companions of the Fire
Ghafir 40:7
ٱلَّذِينَ يَحۡمِلُونَ ٱلۡعَرۡشَ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَيُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۖ رَبَّنَا وَسِعۡتَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٖ رَّحۡمَةٗ وَعِلۡمٗا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُواْ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Die (engelen) die de troon dragen en die daar rondom de lofprijzingen van hun Heer verheerlijken en in Hem geloven, en vragen om vergeving voor degenen die geloven (zeggende): “Onze Heer! U omvat in Uw genade en kennis alle zaken, vergeef dus degenen die berouw tonen en Uw weg volgen, en red hen van de bestraffing van het laaiende vuur!”
Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire
Ghafir 40:8
رَبَّنَا وَأَدۡخِلۡهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمۡ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنۡ ءَابَآئِهِمۡ وَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمۡۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Onze Heer! En laat hen de Eeuwige Tuinen binnentreden wat U hen beloofd heeft en voor de rechtschapen onder hun vaderen, hun echtgenotes en hun nageslacht! Waarlijk, U bent de Almachtige, de Alwijze.
Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
Ghafir 40:9
وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِۚ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوۡمَئِذٖ فَقَدۡ رَحِمۡتَهُۥۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
En red hen van de (gevolgen van) zonden en ieder die u op die dag behoedt van zonden, waarlijk, U heeft dan genade getoond. En dat is een geweldig succes.
And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day - You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment
Ghafir 40:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنَادَوۡنَ لَمَقۡتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكۡبَرُ مِن مَّقۡتِكُمۡ أَنفُسَكُمۡ إِذۡ تُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ فَتَكۡفُرُونَ
Degenen die ongelovig zijn zullen aangesproken worden met: “Allah Zijn afkeer was groter voor jullie dan jullie afkeer tegen elkaar (op deze dag) toen jullie tot het geloof opgeroepen werden maar het weigerden.”
Indeed, those who disbelieve will be addressed, "The hatred of Allah for you was [even] greater than your hatred of yourselves [this Day in Hell] when you were invited to faith, but you refused
Ghafir 40:11
قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ وَأَحۡيَيۡتَنَا ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَٱعۡتَرَفۡنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلۡ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٖ مِّن سَبِيلٖ
Zij (de ongelovigen) zullen zeggen: “Onze Heer! U hebt ons tweemaal laten sterven, en U hebt ons tweemaal het leven gegeven! Nu bekennen wij onze zonden, is er dan een manier om uit (het vuur) te komen?”
They will say, "Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way
Ghafir 40:12
ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَحۡدَهُۥ كَفَرۡتُمۡ وَإِن يُشۡرَكۡ بِهِۦ تُؤۡمِنُواْۚ فَٱلۡحُكۡمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡعَلِيِّ ٱلۡكَبِيرِ
“Dit is vanwege het feit dat toen Allah (alleen) aangeroepen werd jullie ongelovig waren maar als er deelgenoten aan Hem werden toegevoegd, jullie geloofden!” Dus het oordeel ligt uitsluitend bij Allah, de Allerhoogste, de Allergrootste!
[They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand
Ghafir 40:13
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزۡقٗاۚ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ
Hij is het Die jullie Zijn tekenen toont en voorzieningen voor jullie uit de hemel naar beneden stuurt. En niemand herinnerd dat behalve degenen die zich in berouw (tot Allah) keren (daarom is de dienaar niet geleid door Allah, pas als hij eerlijke Tawbah doet).
It is He who shows you His signs and sends down to you from the sky, provision. But none will remember except he who turns back [in repentance]
Ghafir 40:14
فَٱدۡعُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Roep dus Allah aan en laat (jullie) aanbidding volledig (puur) voor Hem (alleen) zijn. Ook al hebben zij daar een afkeer van.
So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it
Ghafir 40:15
رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ يُلۡقِي ٱلرُّوحَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوۡمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ
(Hij is) Eigenaar van de hoogste rangen en standen, Eigenaar van de Troon, Hij stuurt Zijn openbaring (dit wordt ziel genoemd omdat dit de voeding van de ziel is middels de openbaring) aan welke dienaar Hij maar wil, Zodat hij de (mensen) kan waarschuwen voor de Dag van de wederzijdse ontmoeting.
[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting
Ghafir 40:16
يَوۡمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَۖ لَا يَخۡفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنۡهُمۡ شَيۡءٞۚ لِّمَنِ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡوَٰحِدِ ٱلۡقَهَّارِ
De Dag wanneer (alles) tevoorschijn zal komen (wat in de harten zit), niets zal voor Allah verborgen blijven. Aan Wie behoort het Koninkrijk van deze Dag? “Het is van Allah, de Ene, de Onweerstaanbare!”
The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, the One, the Prevailing
Ghafir 40:17
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡۚ لَا ظُلۡمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ
(Op) deze Dag zal iedereen vergoed krijgen wat hij verdiend heeft. Geen onrecht (zal iemand aangedaan worden). Waarlijk, Allah is snel in de afrekening.
This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account
Ghafir 40:18
وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةِ إِذِ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ لَدَى ٱلۡحَنَاجِرِ كَٰظِمِينَۚ مَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنۡ حَمِيمٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٖ يُطَاعُ
En waarschuw (o Mohammed) hen voor de Dag die nadert, wanneer de harten in de kelen kloppen (uit angst), er zal voor de onrechtvaardigen geen vriend of bemiddelaar zijn, die acht slaan.
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed
Ghafir 40:19
يَعۡلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ ٱلۡأَعۡيُنِ وَمَا تُخۡفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ
Allah kent het bedrog van de ogen en alles wat de borsten bedekken.
He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal
Ghafir 40:20
وَٱللَّهُ يَقۡضِي بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقۡضُونَ بِشَيۡءٍۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ
En Allah oordeelt in waarheid, terwijl degenen die zij naast Hem aanroepen nergens over kunnen oordelen. Zeker, Allah! Hij is de Alhorende, de Alziende.
And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah - He is the Hearing, the Seeing
Ghafir 40:21
۞أَوَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُمۡ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٖ
Hebben zij niet door het land gereisd en gezien wat het einde was van degenen die vóór hen waren? Zij waren sterker dan hen en lieten meer sporen op het land achter. En toch greep Allah hen met een bestraffing voor hun zonden. En zij hadden niemand die hen tegen Allah kon beschermen.
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector
Ghafir 40:22
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانَت تَّأۡتِيهِمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُواْ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِيّٞ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ
Dat was omdat tot hen hun boodschappers met duidelijke bewijzen en tekenen waren gekomen maar zij (hen) niet geloofden. Dus greep Allah hen met een bestraffing. Waarlijk, Hij is machtig, streng in bestraffing.
That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment
Ghafir 40:23
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ
En zeker, Wij hebben Moesa met Onze tekenen gestuurd en een duidelijk bewijs.
And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority
Ghafir 40:24
إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَقَٰرُونَ فَقَالُواْ سَٰحِرٞ كَذَّابٞ
Naar de Farao, Haman en Qaaroen, maar zij noemden (hem): “Een tovenaar, een leugenaar!”
To Pharaoh, Haman and Qarun; but they said, "[He is] a magician and a liar
Ghafir 40:25
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ ٱقۡتُلُوٓاْ أَبۡنَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ وَٱسۡتَحۡيُواْ نِسَآءَهُمۡۚ وَمَا كَيۡدُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٖ
En toen hij (Moesa) hen de waarheid van Ons bracht zeiden zei: “Dood de zonen van degenen die met hem geloven en laat hun vrouwen leven”, maar de samenzweringen van de ongelovigen zijn niets dan dwalingen!
And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive." But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error
Ghafir 40:26
وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذَرُونِيٓ أَقۡتُلۡ مُوسَىٰ وَلۡيَدۡعُ رَبَّهُۥٓۖ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمۡ أَوۡ أَن يُظۡهِرَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡفَسَادَ
Farao zei: “Laat mij Moesa doden en laat hem dan zijn Heer aanroepen! Waarlijk, Ik ben bang dat hij jullie van godsdienst zal laten veranderen, of dat hij ellende in het land zal laten verschijnen (de onrechtvaardigen verdraaien altijd de waarheid in welke tijd ze dan ook leven)!
And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land
Ghafir 40:27
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّي عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡحِسَابِ
Moesa zei: “Waarlijk, ik zoek toevlucht bij mijn Heer en jullie Heer tegen alle arrogante mensen die niet in de Dag van de Vergelding geloven.”
But Moses said, "Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account
Ghafir 40:28
وَقَالَ رَجُلٞ مُّؤۡمِنٞ مِّنۡ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ يَكۡتُمُ إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقۡتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَن يَقُولَ رَبِّيَ ٱللَّهُ وَقَدۡ جَآءَكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ وَإِن يَكُ كَٰذِبٗا فَعَلَيۡهِ كَذِبُهُۥۖ وَإِن يَكُ صَادِقٗا يُصِبۡكُم بَعۡضُ ٱلَّذِي يَعِدُكُمۡۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٞ كَذَّابٞ
En een gelovige man uit de familie van de Farao, die zijn geloof verborgen hield, zei: “Doodt u een man omdat hij zegt dat zijn Heer Allah is en tot u met duidelijke tekenen van uw Heer komt? En als hij een leugenaar is dan zal op hem (de zonde) van zijn leugen zijn; maar als hij de waarheid vertelt, dan zullen sommigen van die (rampen) waar hij u mee bedreigt over u komen. Waarlijk, Allah leidt niet degenen die buitensporig en leugenachtig zijn!
And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is Allah' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar
Ghafir 40:29
يَٰقَوۡمِ لَكُمُ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ ظَٰهِرِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَمَن يَنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأۡسِ ٱللَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَاۚ قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمۡ إِلَّا مَآ أَرَىٰ وَمَآ أَهۡدِيكُمۡ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ
O mijn volk! Aan jullie is het koninkrijk van deze dag, jullie zijn de heersers in het land. Maar wie zal ons van de bestraffing van Allah redden als die over ons komt?” Farao zei: “Ik laat jullie alleen zien wat ik zie, en ik leid jullie slechts naar het pad van Leiding".
O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?" Pharaoh said, "I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct
Ghafir 40:30
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُم مِّثۡلَ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابِ
En hij die geloofde zei: “O mijn volk! Waarlijk, ik vrees dat jullie hetzelfde lot zullen begaan als die (ramp) dag van de bondgenoten!”
And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies
Ghafir 40:31
مِثۡلَ دَأۡبِ قَوۡمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡۚ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلۡمٗا لِّلۡعِبَادِ
Net als het lot van het volk van Noeh en ‘Ad en Thamoed en degenen die na hen kwamen. En Allah wil geen onrechtvaardigheid voor (Zijn) dienaren.
Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants
Ghafir 40:32
وَيَٰقَوۡمِ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلتَّنَادِ
En o mijn volk! Waarlijk! Ik vrees voor jullie voor de Dag waarop de wederzijdse geroep zal zijn (de dag der opstanding).
And O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of Calling
Ghafir 40:33
يَوۡمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدۡبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۡ عَاصِمٖۗ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادٖ
Een Dag waarop jullie je zullen omdraaien en vluchten zonder een beschermer van Allah te hebben. En iedereen die Allah laat dwalen, voor hem is er geen leiding.”
The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide
Ghafir 40:34
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبۡلُ بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلۡتُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلۡتُمۡ لَن يَبۡعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ رَسُولٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٞ مُّرۡتَابٌ
En voorwaar, Yoesoef is tot jullie gekomen, in een tijd die voorbij is, met duidelijke tekenen, maar jullie stopten niet te twijfelen over de zaken die hij jullie bracht, tot zijn overlijden zeiden jullie: “Geen boodschapper zal Allah na hem sturen. En zo Allah laat degene die buitensporig en twijfelend zijn dwalen.”
And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allah send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic
Ghafir 40:35
ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡۖ كَبُرَ مَقۡتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطۡبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلۡبِ مُتَكَبِّرٖ جَبَّارٖ
Degenen die redetwisten over de tekenen van Allah, zonder dat er enig bewijs tot hen is gekomen, dat is in het aangezicht van Allah diep gehaat en in het aangezicht van degenen die geloven. Dus verzegelt Allah het hart van elke arrogante tiran.
Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant
Ghafir 40:36
وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ ٱبۡنِ لِي صَرۡحٗا لَّعَلِّيٓ أَبۡلُغُ ٱلۡأَسۡبَٰبَ
En Farao zei: “O Haman! Bouw voor mij een toren zodat ik op de wegen kan komen.
And Pharaoh said, "O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways
Ghafir 40:37
أَسۡبَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِبٗاۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِۚ وَمَا كَيۡدُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِلَّا فِي تَبَابٖ
De wegen van de hemelen zodat ik naar de god van Moesa kan gaan, al denk ik dat hij een leugenaar is.” En zo werden de daden in de ogen van Farao schoonschijnend gemaakt, en hij werd van het (rechte) pad afgehouden en de samenzwering van de Farao leidde naar niets meer dan verlies en vernieling.
The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin
Ghafir 40:38
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِيٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهۡدِكُمۡ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ
En de man die geloofde zei: “O mijn volk! Volg mij, ik zal jullie leiden naar de weg van leiding.
And he who believed said, "O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct
Ghafir 40:39
يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا مَتَٰعٞ وَإِنَّ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ هِيَ دَارُ ٱلۡقَرَارِ
O mijn volk! Waarlijk, dit leven van de wereld is niets dan (een snel) vermaak en waarlijk het hiernamaals is het huis dat voor altijd zal blijven."
O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement
Ghafir 40:40
مَنۡ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةٗ فَلَا يُجۡزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثۡلَهَاۖ وَمَنۡ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوۡ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ يَدۡخُلُونَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ يُرۡزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٖ
Degene die een kwade daad begaat, zal met niks anders worden vergoed dan zijn slechte daden en degene die een goede daad verricht, man of vrouw, en een gelovige is, die zal het paradijs binnentreden waar hij voorzien zal worden zonder beperking.
Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account
Ghafir 40:41
۞وَيَٰقَوۡمِ مَا لِيٓ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ
En O mijn volk! Hoe kan het dat ik jullie tot de redding oproep terwijl jullie mij tot het vuur oproepen!
And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire
Ghafir 40:42
تَدۡعُونَنِي لِأَكۡفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيۡسَ لِي بِهِۦ عِلۡمٞ وَأَنَا۠ أَدۡعُوكُمۡ إِلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡغَفَّـٰرِ
Jullie nodigen mij tot het ongeloof in Allah uit en jullie kennen deelgenoten aan Hem toe; waarvan ik geen kennis heb en ik nodig jullie tot de Almachtige, de meest Vergevende uit!
You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver
Ghafir 40:43
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدۡعُونَنِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ لَيۡسَ لَهُۥ دَعۡوَةٞ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَلَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ هُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ
Er is geen twijfel dat jullie mij oproepen om iemand (te aanbidden) die geen gehoor kan geven aan mijn verzoeken in deze wereld of het hiernamaals. En onze terugkeer zal tot Allah zijn en verdorvenen zijn de bewoners van het vuur zijn!
Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah, and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire
Ghafir 40:44
فَسَتَذۡكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمۡۚ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمۡرِيٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرُۢ بِٱلۡعِبَادِ
En jullie zullen je herinneren wat ik jullie zeg, En ik laat mijn zaak aan Allah over. Waarlijk, Allah is de Alziende over (Zijn) dienaren.”
And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants
Ghafir 40:45
فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُواْۖ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ
Dus beschermde Allah hem tegen het kwaad dat zij geplot hadden, en een kwade bestraffing het volk van Farao omringde.
So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment
Ghafir 40:46
ٱلنَّارُ يُعۡرَضُونَ عَلَيۡهَا غُدُوّٗا وَعَشِيّٗاۚ وَيَوۡمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدۡخِلُوٓاْ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلۡعَذَابِ
Zij zullen aan het vuur worden blootgesteld, in de ochtend en de middag en op de Dag wanneer het Uur tot uitvoering wordt gebracht (zal er tegen de engelen gezegd worden): “Laat het volk van Farao de zwaarste bestraffing binnengaan!”
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour appears [it will be said], "Make the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment
Ghafir 40:47
وَإِذۡ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُاْ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمۡ تَبَعٗا فَهَلۡ أَنتُم مُّغۡنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبٗا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ
En als zij in het vuur redetwisten, zullen de zwakken tegen degenen die arrogant waren zeggen: “Waarlijk! Wij hebben jullie gevolgd, kunnen jullie dan een deel van het vuur van ons wegnemen?”
And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire
Ghafir 40:48
قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُلّٞ فِيهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدۡ حَكَمَ بَيۡنَ ٱلۡعِبَادِ
De hoogmoedigen zullen zeggen: “Wij zijn hier samen in! Waarlijk! Allah heeft tussen Zijn dienaren geoordeeld.”
Those who had been arrogant will say, "Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants
Ghafir 40:49
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدۡعُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ يُخَفِّفۡ عَنَّا يَوۡمٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ
En degenen in het vuur zullen tegen de bewakers van de hel zeggen: “Roep jullie Heer aan om de bestraffing voor een dag te verlichten!”
And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment
Ghafir 40:50
قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَأۡتِيكُمۡ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۚ قَالُواْ فَٱدۡعُواْۗ وَمَا دُعَـٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٍ
Zij zullen zeggen: "Zijn er niet tot jullie boodschappers gekomen met duidelijk bewijs en tekenen?" Zij zullen zeggen: "Welzeker." Daarna zullen zij antwoorden: "Roep dan! En de aanroeping van de ongelovigen is niets anders dan dwaling!"
They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error
Ghafir 40:51
إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَيَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلۡأَشۡهَٰدُ
Waarlijk, in dit wereldlijke leven en op de Dag dat zij getuigen zullen Wij Onze boodschappers en degenen die geloven tot overwinnaars maken (en dat kan soms na een lange termijn gebeuren).
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand
Ghafir 40:52
يَوۡمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مَعۡذِرَتُهُمۡۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعۡنَةُ وَلَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ
De Dag waarop de onrechtvaardigen geen geldig excuus zullen hebben. Voor hen zal er de vervloeking zijn en voor hen zal er een kwade verblijfplaats zijn.
The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home
Ghafir 40:53
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
En voorwaar, Wij gaven Moesa de leiding en Wij lieten de Kinderen van Israël het Boek erven.
And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture
Ghafir 40:54
هُدٗى وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ
Een gids en een vermaning voor de mensen van goede harten.
As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding
Ghafir 40:55
فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ وَٱلۡإِبۡكَٰرِ
Wees dus geduldig. Waarlijk, de belofte van Allah is waar, en vraag om vergiffenis voor je fouten, en verheerlijk en lofprijs jullie Heer in de middag en in de ochtend.
So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning
Ghafir 40:56
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ سُلۡطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمۡ إِن فِي صُدُورِهِمۡ إِلَّا كِبۡرٞ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِۚ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ
Waarlijk, degenen die over de tekenen van Allah redetwisten, zonder daar enig bewijs over te hebben, hebben niets anders in hun borst dan trots. Zij zullen dat nooit verkrijgen. Zoek dus je toevlucht (tegen hun slechtheden) bij Allah. Waarlijk, het is Hij Die de Alhorende is (aangaande hun uitspraken), de Alziende is (aangaande hun omstandigheden).
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing
Ghafir 40:57
لَخَلۡقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ خَلۡقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
De schepping van de hemelen en de aarde is zeker groter dan de schepping van de mensheid, maar de meesten van de mensheid weten dat niet.
The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know
Ghafir 40:58
وَمَا يَسۡتَوِي ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ وَٱلۡبَصِيرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَلَا ٱلۡمُسِيٓءُۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
En niet gelijk zijn de blinde en degene die kan zien, noch is degene die gelooft en goede daden verricht (gelijk aan) degene die kwaad doet. Jullie denken maar weinig!
And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember
Ghafir 40:59
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞ لَّا رَيۡبَ فِيهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Waarlijk, het Uur zal zeker komen, daarover is geen twijfel, maar de meeste mensen geloven het niet.
Indeed, the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - but most of the people do not believe
Ghafir 40:60
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدۡعُونِيٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدۡخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
En jullie Heer zei: “Roep Mij aan (smeek) en Ik zal jullie verhoren. Waarlijk! Degene die Mijn aanbidding minachten zullen zeker in vernedering de hel binnentreden!”
And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible
Ghafir 40:61
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيۡلَ لِتَسۡكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبۡصِرًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ
Allah, Hij is het Die de nacht voor jullie heeft gemaakt zodat jullie daarin mogen rusten en de dag voor jullie om te zien. Waarlijk, Allah is de bezitter van de gunsten voor de mensheid, maar de meesten van de mensheid danken niet.
It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people are not grateful
Ghafir 40:62
ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ
Dat is Allah, jullie Heer, de Schepper van alle zaken. Geen heeft het recht om aanbeden te worden behalve Hij, Dus waarom zijn jullie zo afgedaald?
That is Allah, your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded
Ghafir 40:63
كَذَٰلِكَ يُؤۡفَكُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجۡحَدُونَ
Zo dwalende degenen die de tekenen van Allah ontkennen.
Thus were those [before you] deluded who were rejecting the signs of Allah
Ghafir 40:64
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ قَرَارٗا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءٗ وَصَوَّرَكُمۡ فَأَحۡسَنَ صُوَرَكُمۡ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمۡۖ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Allah, Hij is het Die voor jullie de aarde als verblijfplaats heeft gemaakt en de hemel als een overkapping, en (Die) jullie vorm heeft gegeven (in de baarmoeders) en jullie vorm heeft verfraaid (en geperfectionneerd), en jullie van goede zaken voorzien heeft. Dat is Allah, jullie Heer, gezegend is dan Allah, de Heer van de werelden.
It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds
Ghafir 40:65
هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱدۡعُوهُ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَۗ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Hij is de Altijd Levende. Geen heeft het recht om aanbeden te worden behalve Hij, roep Hem (smeek)dus alleen aan en maak jullie aanbidding uitsluiten voor Hem alleen. Alle lof en dank is voor Allah, de Heer van de werelden.
He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds
Ghafir 40:66
۞قُلۡ إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنۡ أَعۡبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِيَ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّي وَأُمِرۡتُ أَنۡ أُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Zeg: “Mij is verboden om degenen die jullie naast Allah aanbidden, te aanbidden, want er is tot mij bewijs gekomen van mijn Heer, en mij is bevolen mij te onderwerpen aan de Heer van de werelden.
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah once the clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds
Ghafir 40:67
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةٖ ثُمَّ مِنۡ عَلَقَةٖ ثُمَّ يُخۡرِجُكُمۡ طِفۡلٗا ثُمَّ لِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَشُدَّكُمۡ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُواْ شُيُوخٗاۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَلِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَجَلٗا مُّسَمّٗى وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ
Hij is het Die jullie van stof en daarna van een mengsel van mannelijke en vrouwelijke afscheiding heeft geschapen, daarna van een klont, dat jullie als kinderen voortbrengt, dan (laat jullie groeien) tot de leeftijd van volle wasdom en daarna om oud te worden, hoewel sommigen van jullie eerder sterven, en dat jullie de vastgestelde termijn bereiken zodat jullie mogen begrijpen.
It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason
Ghafir 40:68
هُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمۡرٗا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
Hij is het Die het leven geeft en die doet sterven. Als Hij tot iets besluit zegt Hij slechts: “Wees!” en het is."
He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is
Ghafir 40:69
أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أَنَّىٰ يُصۡرَفُونَ
Zie jij niet degenen die redetwisten over de tekenen van Allah? Hoe kunnen zij zich afkeren?
Do you not consider those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah - how are they averted
Ghafir 40:70
ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَبِمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا بِهِۦ رُسُلَنَاۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ
Degenen die het Boek ontkennen, en datgene wat Wij naar Onze boodschappers hebben gestuurd. Zij zullen er gauw achter komen.
Those who deny the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers - they are going to know
Ghafir 40:71
إِذِ ٱلۡأَغۡلَٰلُ فِيٓ أَعۡنَٰقِهِمۡ وَٱلسَّلَٰسِلُ يُسۡحَبُونَ
Wanneer ijzeren halsbanden om hun nekken worden gelegd, en de ketenen zullen meegezeuld worden!
When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged
Ghafir 40:72
فِي ٱلۡحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِي ٱلنَّارِ يُسۡجَرُونَ
In het kokende water, dan zullen zij in het vuur gebrand worden.
In boiling water; then in the Fire they will be filled [with flame]
Ghafir 40:73
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمۡ أَيۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تُشۡرِكُونَ
Dan zal er tot hen gezegd worden: “Waar zijn degene die jullie in de aanbidding als deelgenoten verenigden?
Then it will be said to them, "Where is that which you used to associate [with Him in worship]
Ghafir 40:74
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۖ قَالُواْ ضَلُّواْ عَنَّا بَل لَّمۡ نَكُن نَّدۡعُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ شَيۡـٔٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
Naast Allah?” Zij zullen zeggen: “Zij zijn van ons verdwenen; Welnee, wij hebben niets eerder aangeroepen.” Dus Allah laat de ongelovigen dwalen.
Other than Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us; rather, we did not used to invoke previously anything." Thus does Allah put astray the disbelievers
Ghafir 40:75
ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَفۡرَحُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَمۡرَحُونَ
Dat was omdat jullie op aarde zonder enig recht je uitgelaten gedroegen en dat jullie je gewoonlijk bijzonder (in jullie fouten) verheugden.
[The angels will say], "That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently
Ghafir 40:76
ٱدۡخُلُوٓاْ أَبۡوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَى ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
Jullie moeten nu de hellepoorten binnengaan om daarin voor altijd te verblijven en wat een kwade verblijfplaats voor de hoogmoedigen.
Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant
Ghafir 40:77
فَٱصۡبِرۡ إِنَّ وَعۡدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقّٞۚ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ ٱلَّذِي نَعِدُهُمۡ أَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيۡنَا يُرۡجَعُونَ
Wees dus geduldig, waarlijk de belofte van Allah is waarheid en wat Wij jou ook laten zien een klein gedeelte wat Wij hen hebben beloofd, of Wij laten jou sterven, dan is het tot Ons dat zij zullen terugkeren.
So be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned
Ghafir 40:78
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلٗا مِّن قَبۡلِكَ مِنۡهُم مَّن قَصَصۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ وَمِنۡهُم مَّن لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡ عَلَيۡكَۗ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأۡتِيَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ قُضِيَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ
En voorwaar Wij hebben boodschappers vóór jou gestuurd: van sommigen van hen hebben Wij jou het verhaal verteld en van sommigen van hen hebben Wij jou het verhaal niet verteld, en zonder toestemming van Allah kan geen boodschapper een teken brengen. Als dus het bevel van Allah komt, zal de zaak in waarheid beslecht worden en de volgelingen van de leugens zullen verloren zijn.
And We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah. So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all]
Ghafir 40:79
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمَ لِتَرۡكَبُواْ مِنۡهَا وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Allah is het Die het vee voor jullie heeft gemaakt, dat jullie op sommigen van hen kunnen rijden en sommigen kunnen eten.
It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat
Ghafir 40:80
وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَلِتَبۡلُغُواْ عَلَيۡهَا حَاجَةٗ فِي صُدُورِكُمۡ وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ
En jullie hebben voordelen van hen, dat jullie door middel van hen een behoefte kunnen vervullen en op hen en op schepen worden jullie gedragen.
And for you therein are [other] benefits and that you may realize upon them a need which is in your breasts; and upon them and upon ships you are carried
Ghafir 40:81
وَيُرِيكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَأَيَّ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ
En Hij laat jullie Zijn tekenen en bewijzen zien. Welke van de tekenen en bewijzen van Allah ontkennen jullie dan?
And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny
Ghafir 40:82
أَفَلَمۡ يَسِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَانُوٓاْ أَكۡثَرَ مِنۡهُمۡ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَارٗا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
Hebben zij niet over de aarde gereisd en gezien wat het einde van degenen was die vóór hen waren? Zij waren in grotere aantallen dan hen en groter in kracht en in de sporen op het land, maar toch ondervonden zij geen profijt van hun inspanning (geen zegening).
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn
Ghafir 40:83
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
Toen hun boodschappers met duidelijke bewijzen tot hen kwamen waren zij blij met datgene wat zij hadden aan kennis en met datgene wat zij gewoonlijk bespotten werden zij mee omsingeld.
And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule
Ghafir 40:84
فَلَمَّا رَأَوۡاْ بَأۡسَنَا قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحۡدَهُۥ وَكَفَرۡنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشۡرِكِينَ
Toen zij dus Onze bestraffing zagen, zeiden zij: “Wij geloven in Allah en verwerpen (al) wat wij gewoonlijk in de aanbidding naast Hem als (Zijn) deelgenoten verenigden.”
And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him
Ghafir 40:85
فَلَمۡ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمۡ إِيمَٰنُهُمۡ لَمَّا رَأَوۡاْ بَأۡسَنَاۖ سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِي قَدۡ خَلَتۡ فِي عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Hun geloof kon hen niet baten toen zij Onze bestraffing zagen. Zo is dus de manier van Allah in de omgang met Zijn dienaren. En de ongelovigen hebben ontzettend verloren.
But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all]
