Ash-Shuraa 42:3

كَذَٰلِكَ يُوحِيٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

C’est ainsi qu’Allah, le Tout-Puissant, l’infiniment Sage, fait descendre sur toi Sa révélation comme sur les prophètes qui t’ont précédé.

Thus has He revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and to those before you - Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise

Ash-Shuraa 42:4

لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَلِيُّ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ

Il possède tout ce qui se trouve dans les cieux et sur la terre. Il est le Très Haut, le Très Glorieux.

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great

Ash-Shuraa 42:5

تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرۡنَ مِن فَوۡقِهِنَّۚ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ لِمَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Peu s’en faut que les cieux ne s’entrouvrent depuis leur faîte, tandis que les anges, par les louanges, célèbrent Sa gloire et implorent Son pardon pour les habitants de la terre. Allah, en vérité, est le Très Clément, le Très Miséricordieux.

The heavens almost break from above them, and the angels exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth. Unquestionably, it is Allah who is the Forgiving, the Merciful

Ash-Shuraa 42:6

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوۡلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِوَكِيلٖ

Quant à ceux qui prennent des maîtres en dehors de Lui, Allah consigne leurs agissements dont tu n’auras pas, pour ta part, à répondre.

And those who take as allies other than Him - Allah is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muhammad], are not over them a manager

Ash-Shuraa 42:7

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ قُرۡءَانًا عَرَبِيّٗا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلۡقُرَىٰ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡجَمۡعِ لَا رَيۡبَ فِيهِۚ فَرِيقٞ فِي ٱلۡجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٞ فِي ٱلسَّعِيرِ

C’est ainsi que Nous t’avons révélé le Coran, récitation en langue arabe, afin que tu avertisses la Cité Mère et tous les peuples de la terre, et que tu mettes en garde les hommes contre le Jour inéluctable où ils seront tous rassemblés, une partie au Paradis et l’autre dans les flammes de l’Enfer.

And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur'an that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Makkah] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze

Ash-Shuraa 42:8

وَلَوۡ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمۡ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ وَلَٰكِن يُدۡخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِي رَحۡمَتِهِۦۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ مَا لَهُم مِّن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

Si Allah l’avait voulu, Il aurait fait des hommes une seule nation de croyants, mais Il admet qui Il veut dans Sa grâce, tandis que les impies n’auront ni soutien, ni protecteur.

And if Allah willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper

Ash-Shuraa 42:9

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوۡلِيَآءَۖ فَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلۡوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحۡيِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ

Ont-ils adopté des maîtres en dehors de Lui ? C’est pourtant Allah qui est leur seul Maître, Lui qui redonne vie aux morts et qui a pouvoir sur toute chose.

Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides him? But Allah - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent

Ash-Shuraa 42:10

وَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفۡتُمۡ فِيهِ مِن شَيۡءٖ فَحُكۡمُهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّي عَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ أُنِيبُ

Chacun de vos différends devra être soumis au jugement d’Allah. Tel est Allah, mon Seigneur auquel je m’en remets entièrement, auquel je reviens repentant et me réfère en toute chose.

And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah. [Say], "That is Allah, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back

Ash-Shuraa 42:11

فَاطِرُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا وَمِنَ ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ أَزۡوَٰجٗا يَذۡرَؤُكُمۡ فِيهِۚ لَيۡسَ كَمِثۡلِهِۦ شَيۡءٞۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡبَصِيرُ

Créateur des cieux et de la terre, Il vous a donné des épouses de votre espèce et a mis à votre disposition des bestiaux, mâles et femelles. C’est ainsi qu’Il vous multiplie. Rien ne Lui est comparable, et Il entend tout et voit tout.

[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing

Ash-Shuraa 42:12

لَهُۥ مَقَالِيدُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ يَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقۡدِرُۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٞ

Détenteur des clefs des cieux et de la terre, Il dispense Ses faveurs à qui Il veut, comblant certaines de Ses créatures, accordant aux autres avec mesure. Il a une parfaite connaissance de toute chose.

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing

Ash-Shuraa 42:13

۞شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِۦ نُوحٗا وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَا وَصَّيۡنَا بِهِۦٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰٓۖ أَنۡ أَقِيمُواْ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُواْ فِيهِۚ كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مَا تَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَيۡهِۚ ٱللَّهُ يَجۡتَبِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ مَن يُنِيبُ

Il vous a prescrit, dans cette religion qui t’est révélée, ce qu’Il avait prescrit à Noé, Abraham, Moïse et Jésus, d’observer le culte du Seigneur sans jamais vous diviser à son sujet. La foi à laquelle tu appelles les idolâtres leur est tout simplement insupportable. Allah choisit qui Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs pour en faire Ses fidèles adorateurs et guide vers Sa religion quiconque se tourne sincèrement vers Lui.

He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]

Ash-Shuraa 42:14

وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوٓاْ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُ بَغۡيَۢا بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّٗى لَّقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُورِثُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ لَفِي شَكّٖ مِّنۡهُ مُرِيبٖ

Or, ils ne se sont divisés, poussés par la jalousie, qu’après avoir reçu toutes les preuves. Sans un décret préalable de ton Seigneur renvoyant leur châtiment à un terme fixé, leur différend aurait déjà été tranché. Ceux qui, après eux, ont hérité des Ecritures sont remplis de doutes au sujet de la foi à laquelle tu les appelles.

And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt

Ash-Shuraa 42:15

فَلِذَٰلِكَ فَٱدۡعُۖ وَٱسۡتَقِمۡ كَمَآ أُمِرۡتَۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۖ وَقُلۡ ءَامَنتُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن كِتَٰبٖۖ وَأُمِرۡتُ لِأَعۡدِلَ بَيۡنَكُمُۖ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمۡۖ لَنَآ أَعۡمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُۖ ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَاۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ

Prêche donc la vraie foi et suis toi-même la voie droite comme tu en as reçu l’ordre, sans jamais te plier à leurs désirs. Et dis : « Je crois en toutes les Ecritures révélées par Allah et ordre m’a été donné de vous juger en toute équité. Allah est notre Seigneur et le vôtre. Chacun de nous sera jugé sur ses actes. Nul besoin de nous disputer. Allah, auquel nous ferons tous retour, nous rassemblera un jour. »

So to that [religion of Allah] invite, [O Muhammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allah has revealed of the Qur'an, and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination

Ash-Shuraa 42:16

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآجُّونَ فِي ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ٱسۡتُجِيبَ لَهُۥ حُجَّتُهُمۡ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ وَعَلَيۡهِمۡ غَضَبٞ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٌ

Que ceux qui s’opposent, au sujet d’Allah, aux croyants qui ont répondu à Son appel sachent que leurs arguments sont sans valeur pour leur Seigneur. Ils sont voués à la colère d’Allah et à d’affreux tourments.

And those who argue concerning Allah after He has been responded to - their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment

Ash-Shuraa 42:17

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَٱلۡمِيزَانَۗ وَمَا يُدۡرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٞ

C’est Allah qui a révélé les Ecritures avec la vérité et qui a établi la justice. Qu’en sais-tu ? L’avènement de l’Heure est peut-être imminent !

It is Allah who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance. And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near

Ash-Shuraa 42:18

يَسۡتَعۡجِلُ بِهَا ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهَاۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مُشۡفِقُونَ مِنۡهَا وَيَعۡلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا ٱلۡحَقُّۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِي ٱلسَّاعَةِ لَفِي ضَلَٰلِۭ بَعِيدٍ

Ceux qui n’y croient pas te pressent par défi d’en hâter la venue, tandis que ceux qui y croient, ceux qui savent qu’elle est inéluctable, en redoutent l’avènement. En vérité, ceux qui doutent de l’Heure sont en plein égarement.

Those who do not believe in it are impatient for it, but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth. Unquestionably, those who dispute concerning the Hour are in extreme error

Ash-Shuraa 42:19

ٱللَّهُ لَطِيفُۢ بِعِبَادِهِۦ يَرۡزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡقَوِيُّ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ

Bienveillant envers Ses serviteurs, Allah dispense Ses faveurs à qui Il veut. Il est le Fort, le Tout-Puissant.

Allah is Subtle with His servants; He gives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might

Ash-Shuraa 42:20

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرۡثَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ نَزِدۡ لَهُۥ فِي حَرۡثِهِۦۖ وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرۡثَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا نُؤۡتِهِۦ مِنۡهَا وَمَا لَهُۥ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ مِن نَّصِيبٍ

Que celui qui, par ses œuvres, désire la récompense de l’au-delà sache que Nous multiplierons sa récompense. Quant à celui qui aspire uniquement aux plaisirs terrestres, Nous le laisserons en jouir, mais il n’aura aucune part aux délices de l’au-delà.

Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter - We increase for him in his harvest. And whoever desires the harvest of this world - We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share

Ash-Shuraa 42:21

أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شُرَكَـٰٓؤُاْ شَرَعُواْ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا لَمۡ يَأۡذَنۢ بِهِ ٱللَّهُۚ وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ لَقُضِيَ بَيۡنَهُمۡۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

Auraient-ils des divinités qui leur auraient prescrit un culte qu’Allah n’a pas établi ? Sans un décret de ton Seigneur, leur sort aurait déjà été réglé. En vérité, les impies sont voués à de douloureux tourments.

Or have they other deities who have ordained for them a religion to which Allah has not consented? But if not for the decisive word, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment

Ash-Shuraa 42:22

تَرَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مُشۡفِقِينَ مِمَّا كَسَبُواْ وَهُوَ وَاقِعُۢ بِهِمۡۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ فِي رَوۡضَاتِ ٱلۡجَنَّاتِۖ لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَضۡلُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ

Tu verras les impies, terrifiés par le châtiment qui les attend pour prix de leurs agissements, mais qui s’abattra sur eux inexorablement. Quant aux croyants qui auront accompli de bonnes œuvres, ils seront admis dans les jardins du Paradis où tous leurs désirs seront assouvis auprès de leur Seigneur. Telle est bien la faveur suprême

You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they have earned, and it will [certainly] befall them. And those who have believed and done righteous deeds will be in lush regions of the gardens [in Paradise] having whatever they will in the presence of their Lord. That is what is the great bounty

Ash-Shuraa 42:23

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِۗ قُل لَّآ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ أَجۡرًا إِلَّا ٱلۡمَوَدَّةَ فِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰۗ وَمَن يَقۡتَرِفۡ حَسَنَةٗ نَّزِدۡ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسۡنًاۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ شَكُورٌ

qu’Allah annonce à Ses serviteurs qui croient et font le bien. Dis : « Je ne vous réclame aucun salaire en échange, mais seulement votre bienveillance au nom des liens du sang qui nous unissent. » Quiconque accomplit une bonne action recevra une récompense bien supérieure. Allah est Très Clément et Très Reconnaissant.

It is that of which Allah gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only good will through kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative

Ash-Shuraa 42:24

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗاۖ فَإِن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يَخۡتِمۡ عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَۗ وَيَمۡحُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡبَٰطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

Diront-ils qu’il forge des mensonges en les attribuant à Allah ? Or, Allah pourrait très bien, s’il le voulait, sceller à jamais ton cœur. Allah, par Ses paroles, fait disparaître le faux et éclater la vérité. Il sait parfaitement ce que renferment les cœurs.

Or do they say, "He has invented about Allah a lie"? But if Allah willed, He could seal over your heart. And Allah eliminates falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts

Ash-Shuraa 42:25

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يَقۡبَلُ ٱلتَّوۡبَةَ عَنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَعۡفُواْ عَنِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ

C’est Lui qui accepte le repentir de Ses serviteurs dont Il efface les péchés et qui sait parfaitement ce que vous faites.

And it is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do

Ash-Shuraa 42:26

وَيَسۡتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضۡلِهِۦۚ وَٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞ

Il exauce les prières de ceux qui croient et accomplissent de bonnes œuvres auxquels Il ajoute de Ses faveurs, tandis que les mécréants sont voués à de terribles tourments.

And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment

Ash-Shuraa 42:27

۞وَلَوۡ بَسَطَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ لَبَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَٰكِن يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٖ مَّا يَشَآءُۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرُۢ بَصِيرٞ

Si Allah comblait Ses créatures de Ses faveurs, celles-ci se livreraient aux pires excès sur terre, mais Il leur accorde ce qu’Il veut avec mesure. Il connaît et voit si bien Ses serviteurs.

And if Allah had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, Acquainted and Seeing

Ash-Shuraa 42:28

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡغَيۡثَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا قَنَطُواْ وَيَنشُرُ رَحۡمَتَهُۥۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡوَلِيُّ ٱلۡحَمِيدُ

C’est Lui qui répand Ses grâces sur les hommes en faisant tomber la pluie qu’ils attendaient désespérément. Il est leur véritable Maître, le seul qui soit digne de toutes les louanges.

And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy

Ash-Shuraa 42:29

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ خَلۡقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا مِن دَآبَّةٖۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ جَمۡعِهِمۡ إِذَا يَشَآءُ قَدِيرٞ

L’un des signes de Sa toute-puissance est la création des cieux, de la terre et de tous les êtres qu’Il y a dispersés qu’Il pourra rassembler quand Il le voudra.

And of his signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent

Ash-Shuraa 42:30

وَمَآ أَصَٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٖ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتۡ أَيۡدِيكُمۡ وَيَعۡفُواْ عَن كَثِيرٖ

Nul malheur ne vous frappe qui ne soit le fruit de vos propres péchés, dont Il efface pourtant une grande partie.

And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much

Ash-Shuraa 42:31

وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعۡجِزِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٖ

Vous ne sauriez vous opposer à la volonté du Seigneur sur terre où vous n’avez, contre Ses rigueurs, ni soutien, ni protecteur.

And you will not cause failure [to Allah] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allah any protector or helper

Ash-Shuraa 42:32

وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِ ٱلۡجَوَارِ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ

Autre signe de Sa toute-puissance, les vaisseaux sillonnant les mers, telles des montagnes altières.

And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains

Ash-Shuraa 42:33

إِن يَشَأۡ يُسۡكِنِ ٱلرِّيحَ فَيَظۡلَلۡنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَىٰ ظَهۡرِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٖ شَكُورٍ

Il pourrait, s’Il le voulait, apaiser le vent, immobilisant les vaisseaux à la surface de la mer. Voilà, pour tout homme plein de constance et de reconnaissance, des signes suffisamment clairs.

If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful

Ash-Shuraa 42:34

أَوۡ يُوبِقۡهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُواْ وَيَعۡفُ عَن كَثِيرٖ

Il pourrait aussi les faire sombrer pour prix des méfaits commis par leurs occupants. Mais Il leur pardonne une grande partie de leurs péchés.

Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much

Ash-Shuraa 42:35

وَيَعۡلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِيٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٖ

Ceux qui contestent Nos signes savent parfaitement qu’ils ne pourront échapper à Nos rigueurs.

And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape

Ash-Shuraa 42:36

فَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَيۡءٖ فَمَتَٰعُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۚ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

Tout ce qui vous est attribué de ce bas monde n’est que jouissance éphémère. Bien meilleurs et plus durables sont les délices réservés auprès d’Allah à ceux qui croient et s’en remettent entièrement à leur Seigneur,

So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely

Ash-Shuraa 42:37

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡفَوَٰحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُواْ هُمۡ يَغۡفِرُونَ

ceux qui fuient les péchés les plus graves et les actes infâmes, et qui pardonnent à ceux qui ont provoqué leur colère,

And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive

Ash-Shuraa 42:38

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱسۡتَجَابُواْ لِرَبِّهِمۡ وَأَقَامُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَمۡرُهُمۡ شُورَىٰ بَيۡنَهُمۡ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ

ceux qui, ayant répondu à l’appel de leur Seigneur, accomplissent la prière, ne prennent aucune décision importante sans se consulter mutuellement et offrent par charité une partie de ce que Nous leur avons accordé,

And those who have responded to their lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend

Ash-Shuraa 42:39

وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَابَهُمُ ٱلۡبَغۡيُ هُمۡ يَنتَصِرُونَ

ceux qui savent se défendre contre toute attaque injustifiée.

And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves

Ash-Shuraa 42:40

وَجَزَـٰٓؤُاْ سَيِّئَةٖ سَيِّئَةٞ مِّثۡلُهَاۖ فَمَنۡ عَفَا وَأَصۡلَحَ فَأَجۡرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Quiconque, en effet, subit un tort peut y répondre de manière proportionnée. Celui, toutefois, qui privilégiera le pardon et la réconciliation en sera récompensé par Allah qui n’aime pas les êtres injustes.

And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers

Ash-Shuraa 42:41

وَلَمَنِ ٱنتَصَرَ بَعۡدَ ظُلۡمِهِۦ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيۡهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ

Quant à ceux qui se défendent après avoir été injustement agressés, ils ne peuvent être sanctionnés.

And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame]

Ash-Shuraa 42:42

إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَظۡلِمُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَيَبۡغُونَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

Seuls peuvent être sanctionnés ceux qui s’attaquent en premier aux autres et les agressent injustement. Ceux-là sont voués à un douloureux châtiment.

The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment

Ash-Shuraa 42:43

وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنۡ عَزۡمِ ٱلۡأُمُورِ

Mais supporter patiemment le mal des autres et passer sur leur faute est sans aucun doute la meilleure attitude à adopter.

And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination

Ash-Shuraa 42:44

وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن وَلِيّٖ مِّنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦۗ وَتَرَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلۡ إِلَىٰ مَرَدّٖ مِّن سَبِيلٖ

Celui qu’Allah laisse s’égarer ne trouvera nul maître pour le guider. Tu verras les impies s’exclamer à la vue du châtiment : « Y a-t-il un moyen de revenir à la vie terrestre ? »

And he whom Allah sends astray - for him there is no protector beyond Him. And you will see the wrongdoers, when they see the punishment, saying, "Is there for return [to the former world] any way

Ash-Shuraa 42:45

وَتَرَىٰهُمۡ يُعۡرَضُونَ عَلَيۡهَا خَٰشِعِينَ مِنَ ٱلذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرۡفٍ خَفِيّٖۗ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ ٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ وَأَهۡلِيهِمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ فِي عَذَابٖ مُّقِيمٖ

Tu les verras, au moment où ils seront exposés au Feu, yeux baissés de honte et de terreur, jetant des regards furtifs. Les croyants diront alors : « Les plus grands perdants, le Jour de la résurrection, sont ceux qui ont provoqué leur ruine et celle de leurs proches. » En vérité, les impies sont voués à d’éternels tourments.

And you will see them being exposed to the Fire, humbled from humiliation, looking from [behind] a covert glance. And those who had believed will say, "Indeed, the [true] losers are the ones who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, the wrongdoers are in an enduring punishment

Ash-Shuraa 42:46

وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنۡ أَوۡلِيَآءَ يَنصُرُونَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن سَبِيلٍ

Nul ne pourra les sauver du châtiment d’Allah. Celui qu’Allah laisse s’égarer ne saurait trouver la voie du salut.

And there will not be for them any allies to aid them other than Allah. And whoever Allah sends astray - for him there is no way

Ash-Shuraa 42:47

ٱسۡتَجِيبُواْ لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبۡلِ أَن يَأۡتِيَ يَوۡمٞ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِۚ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلۡجَإٖ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٖ

Répondez à l’appel de votre Seigneur avant l’avènement d’un jour décrété par Allah que nul ne pourra repousser. Rien, ce Jour-là, ne pourra vous mettre à l’abri du châtiment et vous ne pourrez contester vos péchés.

Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allah of which there is no repelling. No refuge will you have that day, nor for you will there be any denial

Ash-Shuraa 42:48

فَإِنۡ أَعۡرَضُواْ فَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَفِيظًاۖ إِنۡ عَلَيۡكَ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَٰغُۗ وَإِنَّآ إِذَآ أَذَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنَّا رَحۡمَةٗ فَرِحَ بِهَاۖ وَإِن تُصِبۡهُمۡ سَيِّئَةُۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ فَإِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ كَفُورٞ

S’ils persistent à se détourner, qu’ils sachent que Nous ne t’avons pas envoyé pour surveiller ces gens, dont tu n’es en rien responsable, mais uniquement pour transmettre Notre message. Lorsque, par un effet de Notre grâce, Nous accordons à l’homme quelque faveur, il s’en réjouit avec insolence. Mais qu’un malheur le frappe pour prix de ses méfaits, et le voilà plein d’ingratitude.

But if they turn away - then We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful

Ash-Shuraa 42:49

لِّلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ يَخۡلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُۚ يَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ إِنَٰثٗا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ٱلذُّكُورَ

Allah règne en Maître absolu sur les cieux et la terre. Il crée ce qu’Il veut, faisant don de filles à qui Il veut et de garçons à qui Il veut,

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males

Ash-Shuraa 42:50

أَوۡ يُزَوِّجُهُمۡ ذُكۡرَانٗا وَإِنَٰثٗاۖ وَيَجۡعَلُ مَن يَشَآءُ عَقِيمًاۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٞ قَدِيرٞ

ou accordant à la fois des garçons et des filles. Et Il rend stérile qui Il veut. Il est Omniscient et Omnipotent !

Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent

Ash-Shuraa 42:51

۞وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحۡيًا أَوۡ مِن وَرَآيِٕ حِجَابٍ أَوۡ يُرۡسِلَ رَسُولٗا فَيُوحِيَ بِإِذۡنِهِۦ مَا يَشَآءُۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٞ

Allah ne saurait s’adresser à un être humain si ce n’est sous forme d’inspiration, ou de derrière un voile ou encore par l’intermédiaire d’un messager qui lui est envoyé pour lui révéler, sur ordre d’Allah, ce qu’Il veut. Il est Très Haut et infiniment Sage.

And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise

Ash-Shuraa 42:52

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡكَ رُوحٗا مِّنۡ أَمۡرِنَاۚ مَا كُنتَ تَدۡرِي مَا ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ وَلَا ٱلۡإِيمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِن جَعَلۡنَٰهُ نُورٗا نَّهۡدِي بِهِۦ مَن نَّشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَاۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهۡدِيٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ

C’est ainsi que Nous te révélons un livre émanant de Nous. Tu ne connaissais pas les Ecritures avant cela, ni même la vraie foi. Mais Nous en avons fait une lumière par laquelle Nous guidons qui Nous voulons parmi Nos serviteurs. Tu guides, en vérité, les hommes vers une voie droite,

And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path

Ash-Shuraa 42:53

صِرَٰطِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ أَلَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ تَصِيرُ ٱلۡأُمُورُ

la voie d’Allah auquel appartient tout ce qui se trouve dans les cieux et sur la terre. C’est à Allah, en vérité, que tout doit faire retour.

The path of Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allah do [all] matters evolve
