Soera An-Najm (53) — De Ster · النجم
Mekkaanse soera, 62 verzen, als 23e geopenbaard.
De ster: de waarheid van de openbaring, en geen ziel draagt de last van een ander.
An-Najm 53:1
وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
Bij de ster wanneer die neervalt.
By the star when it descends
An-Najm 53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
Jullie metgezel (Mohammed) is niet afgedwaald en hij is niet van de waarheid afgeweken.
Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred
An-Najm 53:3
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ
Noch spreekt hij uit eigen verlangen.
Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination
An-Najm 53:4
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡيٞ يُوحَىٰ
Het is slechts een openbaring die geopenbaard is.
It is not but a revelation revealed
An-Najm 53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰ
Hij is onderwezen door de stevige kracht (djibriel).
Taught to him by one intense in strength
An-Najm 53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٖ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ
De bezitter van kracht, die zich vervolgens verhief.
One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form
An-Najm 53:7
وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
Terwijl hij aan het hoogste gedeelte van de horizon stond.
While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon
An-Najm 53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
Terwijl hij (de engel de Profeet Mohammed) naderde en dichterbij kwam.
Then he approached and descended
An-Najm 53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ
En op een afstand van twee booglengten of zelf minder.
And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer
An-Najm 53:10
فَأَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَآ أَوۡحَىٰ
Zo verkondigde (Allah) de openbaring aan Zijn dienaar.
And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed
An-Najm 53:11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ
Het hart van de Profeet loog niet van wat hij zag.
The heart did not lie [about] what it saw
An-Najm 53:12
أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
Zullen jullie dan met hem (de Profeet Mohammed) redetwisten over datgene wat hij zag.
So will you dispute with him over what he saw
An-Najm 53:13
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ نَزۡلَةً أُخۡرَىٰ
En voorwaar hij (Mohammed) zag hem bij een andere neerzending.
And he certainly saw him in another descent
An-Najm 53:14
عِندَ سِدۡرَةِ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰ
In de buurt van de Sidrat al-Moentaha (een speciale boom die zich bevindt in het paradijs).
At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary
An-Najm 53:15
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰٓ
In de buurt daarvan is het paradijs.
Near it is the Garden of Refuge
An-Najm 53:16
إِذۡ يَغۡشَى ٱلسِّدۡرَةَ مَا يَغۡشَىٰ
Toen de boom bedekte, wat het bedekte!
When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]
An-Najm 53:17
مَا زَاغَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
Het zicht (van de Profeet Mohammed) keerde zich niet af noch ging het de grens voorbij.
The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]
An-Najm 53:18
لَقَدۡ رَأَىٰ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰٓ
Voorwaar hij zag de grootste tekenen van zijn Heer.
He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord
An-Najm 53:19
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلۡعُزَّىٰ
Hebben jullie ‘Lat’ en ‘Oezza’ gezien?
So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza
An-Najm 53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰٓ
En Manat, de andere derde?
And Manat, the third - the other one
An-Najm 53:21
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلۡأُنثَىٰ
Zijn de mannen voor jullie en voor Hem de vrouwen?
Is the male for you and for Him the female
An-Najm 53:22
تِلۡكَ إِذٗا قِسۡمَةٞ ضِيزَىٰٓ
Dat is zeker een oneerlijke verdeling!
That, then, is an unjust division
An-Najm 53:23
إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّآ أَسۡمَآءٞ سَمَّيۡتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلۡطَٰنٍۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهۡوَى ٱلۡأَنفُسُۖ وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ
Zij zijn alleen namen die jullie genoemd hebben – jullie en jullie vaderen – waarvoor Allah geen bevoegdheid voor heeft gegeven. Zij volgen slechts vermoedens en dat wat zij zelf willen, en er is zeker leiding van hun Heer tot hen gekomen!
They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance
An-Najm 53:24
أَمۡ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
Of zal de mens hebben wat hij wenst?
Or is there for man whatever he wishes
An-Najm 53:25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ
Maar aan Allah behoort het laatste en het eerste.
Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]
An-Najm 53:26
۞وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٖ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغۡنِي شَفَٰعَتُهُمۡ شَيۡـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ أَن يَأۡذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرۡضَىٰٓ
En hoeveel engelen zijn er in de hemel, wiens voorspraak niets zal baten behalve met Allah Zijn toestemming, voor degenen die Hij wil.
And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves
An-Najm 53:27
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسۡمِيَةَ ٱلۡأُنثَىٰ
Waarlijk, degenen die niet in het hiernamaals geloven geven de engelen vrouwelijke namen.
Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels female names
An-Najm 53:28
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَيۡـٔٗا
Terwijl zij daarover geen kennis hebben. Zij volgen slechts hun vermoedens en waarlijk, vermoedens zijn geen onderdeel van de waarheid (daarom hoort het ook bij de grote zonden om slechte vermoedens te hebben over de geleerden en degenen die uitnodigen naar Islam).
And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all
An-Najm 53:29
فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكۡرِنَا وَلَمۡ يُرِدۡ إِلَّا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
Trek je daarom terug van degene die zich van Onze vermaning afkeert en niets dan het leven van deze wereld wenst.
So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life
An-Najm 53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبۡلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡعِلۡمِۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ
Dat is wat zij van kennis konden bemachtigen. Waarlijk jullie Heer is het beste die weet wie van Zijn pad dwaalt en wie leiding krijgt.
That is their sum of knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided
An-Najm 53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ لِيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔواْ بِمَا عَمِلُواْ وَيَجۡزِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواْ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَى
Aan Allah behoort alles wat in de hemelen is en wat op aarde is, dat Hij de zondaren mogen vergelden voor wat zij gedaan hebben en degenen belonen die het goede gedaan hebben, met wat het beste is.
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward]
An-Najm 53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِكُمۡ إِذۡ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِذۡ أَنتُمۡ أَجِنَّةٞ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمۡۖ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ
Degenen die grote zonden vermijden en verdorvenheid, behalve de kleine fouten (wanneer de moslim kennis opdoet en hier naar handelt, vrijwel nooit in grote zonden vervalt. Dit omdat de deuren die leiden tot zonden dicht zijn). Waarlijk, jullie Heer is overvloedig in de vergiffenis. Hij kent jullie het best, toen Hij jullie van aarde geschapen heeft, en toen jullie foetussen in de baarmoeders van jullie moeder waren. Dus prijs jezelf niet. Hij weet het best wie Allah vreest.
Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him
An-Najm 53:33
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰ
Heb jij degene bekeken die zich afkeert?
Have you seen the one who turned away
An-Najm 53:34
وَأَعۡطَىٰ قَلِيلٗا وَأَكۡدَىٰٓ
En weinig gaven (sadaqah) en dan stopte?
And gave a little and [then] refrained
An-Najm 53:35
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ
Is met hem de kennis van het onwaarneembare zodat hij het kan zien?
Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees
An-Najm 53:36
أَمۡ لَمۡ يُنَبَّأۡ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
Of is hem niet verteld wat op de bladen van Moesa staat.
Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses
An-Najm 53:37
وَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِي وَفَّىٰٓ
En van Ibraahiem die (alles wat Allah bevolen heeft om te doen of te verkondigen) vervuld heeft,
And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations]
An-Najm 53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰ
Dat geen enkel persoon de last van een ander zal dragen.
That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another
An-Najm 53:39
وَأَن لَّيۡسَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
En dat de mens niets zal krijgen behalve voor wat hij gedaan heeft,
And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives
An-Najm 53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعۡيَهُۥ سَوۡفَ يُرَىٰ
En dat zijn daden gauw (na de dood) gezien zullen worden,
And that his effort is going to be seen
An-Najm 53:41
ثُمَّ يُجۡزَىٰهُ ٱلۡجَزَآءَ ٱلۡأَوۡفَىٰ
Dan zal hij een volledige vergoeding krijgen.
Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense
An-Najm 53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰ
En dat bij jullie Heer het einde is.
And that to your Lord is the finality
An-Najm 53:43
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضۡحَكَ وَأَبۡكَىٰ
En dat Hij het is Die (wie Hij wil laat) lachen en (wie Hij wil) laat huilen;
And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep
An-Najm 53:44
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحۡيَا
En dat Hij het is, Die het leven geeft en neemt;
And that it is He who causes death and gives life
An-Najm 53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ
En dat Hij in paren schept – mannelijk en vrouwelijk,
And that He creates the two mates - the male and female
An-Najm 53:46
مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰ
Uit een druppel wanneer het afgescheiden wordt.
From a sperm-drop when it is emitted
An-Najm 53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلنَّشۡأَةَ ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ
En dat bij Hem een andere voortbrenging is;
And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation
An-Najm 53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغۡنَىٰ وَأَقۡنَىٰ
En dat het Allah is Die rijk of arm maakt (gebaseerd op zijn wijsheid).
And that it is He who enriches and suffices
An-Najm 53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعۡرَىٰ
En dat Hij de Heer van Sirius is.
And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius
An-Najm 53:50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
En dat Hij het is Die de voormalige ‘Ad vernietigd heeft.
And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad
An-Najm 53:51
وَثَمُودَاْ فَمَآ أَبۡقَىٰ
En Thamoed. Hij heeft geen van hen gespaard.
And Thamud - and He did not spare [them]
An-Najm 53:52
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٖ مِّن قَبۡلُۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ هُمۡ أَظۡلَمَ وَأَطۡغَىٰ
En de vroegere mensen van het volk van Noeh, waarlijk zij waren onrechtvaardiger en opstandiger.
And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing
An-Najm 53:53
وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَةَ أَهۡوَىٰ
En Hij vernietigde de overweldigende steden.
And the overturned towns He hurled down
An-Najm 53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
Dus zij bedekten zich met datgene waarmee deze bedekte werden.
And covered them by that which He covered
An-Najm 53:55
فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
Over welke gunsten van jullie Heer twijfelen jullie?
Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt
An-Najm 53:56
هَٰذَا نَذِيرٞ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ
Dit is een waarschuwer van de waarschuwers van de eerdere (generatie).
This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners
An-Najm 53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلۡأٓزِفَةُ
De dag der opstanding is nabij,
The Approaching Day has approached
An-Najm 53:58
لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
Niemand behalve Allah kan het wegnemen.
Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover
An-Najm 53:59
أَفَمِنۡ هَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ تَعۡجَبُونَ
Verwonderen jullie je dan over deze recitatie.
Then at this statement do you wonder
An-Najm 53:60
وَتَضۡحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبۡكُونَ
En jullie lachen daarom en huilen niet.
And you laugh and do not weep
An-Najm 53:61
وَأَنتُمۡ سَٰمِدُونَ
Jullie tijd van leven verspillend in vermaak en amusement.
While you are proudly sporting
An-Najm 53:62
فَٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلَّهِۤ وَٱعۡبُدُواْ۩
Kniel dan neer voor Allah, en aanbid Hem.
So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]
