Surah Ash-Shams (91) — The Sun · الشمس

Meccan surah, 15 ayat.

The sun: success for the purified soul — and Thamud ruined over the she-camel.

Ash-Shams 91:1

وَٱلشَّمۡسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا

By the sun and its brightness

Tako Mi Sunca i svjetla njegova,

Ash-Shams 91:2

وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا

And [by] the moon when it follows it

i Mjeseca kada ga prati,

Ash-Shams 91:3

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا

And [by] the day when it displays it

i dana kada ga vidljivim učini,

Ash-Shams 91:4

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰهَا

And [by] the night when it covers it

i noći kada ga zakloni,

Ash-Shams 91:5

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا

And [by] the sky and He who constructed it

i neba i Onoga koji ga sazda,

Ash-Shams 91:6

وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا

And [by] the earth and He who spread it

i Zemlje i Onoga koji je ravnom učini,

Ash-Shams 91:7

وَنَفۡسٖ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا

And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it

i duše i Onoga koji je stvori

Ash-Shams 91:8

فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا

And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness

pa joj put dobra i put zla shvatljivim učini,

Ash-Shams 91:9

قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا

He has succeeded who purifies it

uspjeće samo onaj ko je očisti,

Ash-Shams 91:10

وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا

And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]

a biće izgubljen onaj ko je na stranputicu odvodi!

Ash-Shams 91:11

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِطَغۡوَىٰهَآ

Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression

Semud je zbog obijesti svoje poricao:

Ash-Shams 91:12

إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشۡقَىٰهَا

When the most wretched of them was sent forth

kad se jedan nesretnik između njih podigao,

Ash-Shams 91:13

فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقۡيَٰهَا

And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink

Allahov poslanik im je doviknuo: "Brinite se o Allahovoj kamili i vremenu kad treba da pije!",

Ash-Shams 91:14

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوَّىٰهَا

But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]

ali mu oni nisu povjerovali, već su je zaklali – i Gospodar njihov ih je zbog grijeha njihovih uništio i do posljednjeg istrijebio,

Ash-Shams 91:15

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقۡبَٰهَا

And He does not fear the consequence thereof

i ne strahujući zbog toga od odgovornosti.
