Koran 8:34 — Sure Al-Anfal, Vers 34

وَمَا لَهُمۡ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَهُمۡ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ ٱلۡحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوٓاْ أَوۡلِيَآءَهُۥٓۚ إِنۡ أَوۡلِيَآؤُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

Und was haben sie nun, daß Allah sie nicht strafen sollte, wo sie (euch) von der geschützten Gebetsstätte abhalten? Und sie waren nicht ihre Beschützer. Ihre Beschützer sind ja nur die Gottesfürchtigen! Aber die meisten von ihnen wissen nicht.

But why should Allah not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al- Haram and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und warum sollte Allah sie nicht strafen, wo sie (euch) von der geschützten (Haram-)Gebetsstätte abhalten? Und sie waren nicht seine Beschützer (also die Beschützer der Gebetsstätte). Ihre Beschützer sind ja nur die (Allah-)Fürchtenden! Aber die meisten von ihnen wissen nicht.
• Hilali & Khan: And why should not Allâh punish them while they hinder (men) from Al-Masjid-Al-Harâm, and they are not its guardians? None can be its guardians except Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2), but most of them know not.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Why should Allah not punish them when they prevent [people] from the Sacred Mosque, although they are not its rightful guardians? Its rightful guardians are only those who fear Allah, but most of them do not know.
