Koran 16:35 — Sure An-Nahl, Vers 35

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشۡرَكُواْ لَوۡ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدۡنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَيۡءٖ نَّحۡنُ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمۡنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَيۡءٖۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ فَهَلۡ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ

Diejenigen, die (Allah etwas) beigesellen, sagen: Wenn Allah gewollt hätte, hätten wir nichts anstatt Seiner gedient, weder wir noch unsere Vater, und wir (selbst) hätten anstatt Seiner nichts verboten. So handelten (auch) diejenigen, die vor ihnen waren. Obliegt denn den Gesandten etwas anderes als die deutliche Übermittlung (der Botschaft)?

And those who associate others with Allah say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und diejenigen, die (Allah etwas) beigesellen, sagen: „Wenn Allah gewollt hätte, hätten wir nichts anstatt Seiner gedient, weder wir noch unsere Väter, und wir (selbst) hätten anstatt Seiner nichts verboten.“ Auf diese Weise handelten (ja auch) diejenigen, die vor ihnen waren. Obliegt denn den Gesandten etwas anderes als die deutliche Übermittlung (der Botschaft)?
• Hilali & Khan: And those who joined others in worship with Allâh said: "If Allâh had so willed, neither we nor our fathers would have worshipped aught but Him, nor would we have forbidden anything without (Command from) Him." So did those before them. Then! Are the Messengers charged with anything but to convey clearly the Message?
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Those who associate partners with Allah say, “If Allah had willed, neither we nor our forefathers would have worshiped anything besides Him, nor would we have prohibited anything without His command.” Those who came before them did the same. Is the duty of the messengers anything except to convey the message clearly?
