Quran 30:49 — Surah Ar-Rum, ayah 49

وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيۡهِم مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦ لَمُبۡلِسِينَ

Although they were, before it was sent down upon them - before that, in despair
