Koran 7:73 — soera Al-A'raf, vers 73

وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمۡ صَٰلِحٗاۚ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرُهُۥۖ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡكُم بَيِّنَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡۖ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةُ ٱللَّهِ لَكُمۡ ءَايَةٗۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأۡكُلۡ فِيٓ أَرۡضِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٖ فَيَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

En tot het volk van Thamoed stuurden Wij hun broeder Saalih (met het woord van tawhied). Zei hij: “O mijn volk! Aanbid Allah (alléén), (want) er is voor jullie geen andere god dan Hem. Voorwaar, er is tot jullie een duidelijk teken van jullie Heer gekomen (dat niets of niemand recht heeft op jullie aanbidding dan Allah). Deze kamelin van Allah is een teken voor jullie (en zal als argumen voor of tegen jullie gebruikt worden). Laat haar dus grazen (en drinken zoveel ze maar wil) op Allah Zijn aarde (op de vastgelegde dagen). Kwets haar niet (en maak het haar niet moeilijk), anders zal jullie een pijnlijke bestraffing ten deel vallen.

And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment

• Hilali & Khan: And to Thamûd (people, We sent) their brother Sâlih. He said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him. (Lâ ilâha illallâh: none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign (the miracle of the coming out of a huge she-camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she-camel of Allâh is a sign unto you; so you leave her to graze in Allâh’s earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should seize you.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): And to the people of Thamūd [We sent] their brother, Sālih. He said, “O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. There has come to you a clear proof from your Lord: this is a she-camel of Allah, as a sign to you. So leave her to graze in Allah’s land, and do not harm her in any way, or else a painful punishment will seize you.
