Koran 63:2 — soera Al-Munafiqun, vers 2

ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ

Zij hebben hun eden tot een scherm gemaakt. Zo hinderen zij (de mens) op de weg van Allah. Waarlijk, kwaad is het wat zij plachten te doen.

They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing

• Hilali & Khan: They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh. Verily, evil is what they used to do.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): They have taken their oaths as a shield in order to hinder people from the way of Allah. Evil indeed is what they do!
