Koran 4:64 — soera An-Nisa, vers 64

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسۡتَغۡفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُواْ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابٗا رَّحِيمٗا

We hebben een boodschapper gestuurd die met Allah Zijn toestemming gehoorzaamd moet worden. Als zij, nadat zij onrechtvaardig voor zichzelf waren, tot jou komen (dit mag niet na de dood van de profeet vrede zij met hem omdat het zal leiden naar shirk) en om Allah Zijn vergiffenis gesmeekt hadden en de Boodschapper voor hen gesmeekt heeft (dus de Profeet smeekt Allah dat Allah de moslims vergeeft en niet dat de moslim de Profeet aanbidt), dan zouden zij Allah zeker als de Alvergevende vinden, de Genadevolle.

And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful

If they (hypocrites), when they had been unjust to themselves, had come to you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and begged Allâh’s Forgiveness, and the Messenger had begged forgiveness for them: indeed, they would have found Allâh All-Forgiving (One Who forgives and accepts repentance), Most Merciful.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): We did not send any Messenger but to be obeyed by Allah’s permission. If only they had come to you [O Prophet] – after wronging themselves – and had asked Allah for forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked for forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful.
