Koran 3:128 — soera Ali 'Imran, vers 128

لَيۡسَ لَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَمۡرِ شَيۡءٌ أَوۡ يَتُوبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ أَوۡ يُعَذِّبَهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ ظَٰلِمُونَ

Niet aan jou, maar aan Allah is de beslissing. Of Hij hen genadig is om hen (te vergeven) of te bestraffen, waarlijk zij zijn de onrechtvaardigen.

Not for you, [O Muhammad, but for Allah], is the decision whether He should [cut them down] or forgive them or punish them, for indeed, they are wrongdoers

• Hilali & Khan: Not for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, but for Allâh) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the Zâlimûn (polytheists, disobedients, and wrong-doers).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): It is not for you [O Prophet] to decide whether He will accept their repentance or punish them, for they are wrongdoers.
