Koran 28:45 — soera Al-Qasas, vers 45

وَلَٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأۡنَا قُرُونٗا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡعُمُرُۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيٗا فِيٓ أَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ تَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِينَ

Maar Wij schiepen generaties waar vele jaren voor hen voorbij gingen. En jij was niet één bewoners onder het volk van Median, Die Onze verzen aan hen reciteren. Maar Wij zijn het Die de (boodschappers) blijven sturen.

But We produced [many] generations [after Moses], and prolonged was their duration. And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our verses, but We were senders [of this message]

• Hilali & Khan: But We created generations [after generations i.e. after Mûsâ (Moses) عليه السلام], and long were the ages that passed over them. And you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) were not a dweller among the people of Madyan (Midian), reciting Our Verses to them. But it is We Who kept sending (Messengers).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): But We brought forth many generations [after Moses], and a long time passed on them. And you [O Prophet] did not dwell among the people of Midian, rehearsing with them Our verses, but it is We Who sent you as a messenger [and revealed to you their stories].
