Koran 25:42 — soera Al-Furqan, vers 42

إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنۡ ءَالِهَتِنَا لَوۡلَآ أَن صَبَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهَاۚ وَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوۡنَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ مَنۡ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا

Bijna zou hij ons van onze goden misleiden, als het niet zo was geweest dat wij geduldig zijn en in onze aanbidding volhouden!” En zij zullen het weten als zij de bestraffing zien, wie degenen is die het meeste van het (rechte) pad is afgedwaald!

He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way

• Hilali & Khan: "He would have nearly misled us from our âlihah (gods), had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path!
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): He would have almost led us astray from our gods if we had not been so devoted to them.” But when they see the punishment, they will come to know who is further astray from the right way.
