Koran 18:7 — soera Al-Kahf, vers 7

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ زِينَةٗ لَّهَا لِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡ أَيُّهُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗا

Waarlijk! Wij hebben datgene wat er zich op aarde bevindt (zoals dieren, planten, bomen, waterbronnen, e.a.) als haar versiering gemaakt, opdat Wij kunnen testen wie van hen uitblinkt in goede daden.

Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed

• Hilali & Khan: Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e. those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allâh’s sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم].
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): We have made all that is on earth as an adornment for it, so that We may test them as to which of them is best in deeds.
