Koran 17:53 — soera Al-Isra, vers 53

وَقُل لِّعِبَادِي يَقُولُواْ ٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُۚ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ يَنزَغُ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ كَانَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ عَدُوّٗا مُّبِينٗا

(O Mohammed), zeg tegen Mijn (gelovige) dienaren dat zij enkel met goede woorden aanspreken. Want voorzeker, Shaytaan probeert slechts hun onderlinge relaties te verslechten. Zeker, Shaytaan is voor de mens een duidelijke vijand.

And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy

• Hilali & Khan: And say to My slaves (i.e. the true believers of Islâmic Monotheism) that they should (only) say those words that are the best. (Because) Shaitân (Satan) verily, sows a state of conflict and disagreements among them. Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is to man a plain enemy.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Tell My slaves that they should say what is best, for Satan sows discord among them. Indeed, Satan is a sworn enemy to mankind.
