Koran 11:59 — soera Hud, vers 59

وَتِلۡكَ عَادٞۖ جَحَدُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَعَصَوۡاْ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٖ

Zo was het (volk van) ‘Ad. Zij verwierpen de tekenen van hun Heer en waren ongehoorzaam aan Zijn boodschappers, en volgden het bevel van iedere trotse halsstarrige onderdrukker van de Waarheid.

And that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant

• Hilali & Khan: Such were ‘Âd (people). They rejected the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Such were the people of ‘Ād, who denied the signs of their Lord, disobeyed His Messengers and followed the command of every obstinate oppressor.
