Coran 78:40 — sourate An-Naba, verset 40

إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا

Nous vous avons mis en garde contre un châtiment imminent, le Jour où l’homme verra ses œuvres et où le mécréant s’exclamera : « Si seulement je n’étais que poussière ! »

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust

• Noor International Center (fr): Nous vous avons mis en garde contre un supplice tout proche. Ce jour-là l’homme verra ce qu’il aura fait de ses propres mains, et le mécréant dira : « Ah ! si seulement j’étais poussière ! »
• Hilali & Khan: Verily, We have warned you of a near torment - the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Indeed, We have warned you of an imminent punishment on the Day when everyone will see what his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!”

Tafsir (explication) de ce verset 78:40

Certes Nous vous avons avertis, ô gens, d’un châtiment qui arrivera bientôt. Le jour ou l’homme regardera ce qu’il a accompli en ce bas monde, le mécréant dira, espérant que ses paroles feront cesser le châtiment: Si seulement j’étais devenu poussière, comme les animaux à qui on ordonne de devenir poussière le Jour de la Résurrection.
