Coran 29:53 — sourate Al-'Ankabut, verset 53

وَيَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ بِٱلۡعَذَابِ وَلَوۡلَآ أَجَلٞ مُّسَمّٗى لَّجَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ وَلَيَأۡتِيَنَّهُم بَغۡتَةٗ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ

Ils te pressent par défi de hâter le châtiment dont ils sont menacés. Or, si son terme n’en était pas fixé de toute éternité, le châtiment, qui d’ailleurs les saisira soudainement, les aurait déjà frappés.

And they urge you to hasten the punishment. And if not for [the decree of] a specified term, punishment would have reached them. But it will surely come to them suddenly while they perceive not

• Noor International Center (fr): Ils te réclament de hâter le supplice. N’eût été le terme déjà nommé, le supplice se serait déjà abattu sur eux. Il les frappera certes sans prévenir et sans qu’ils ne le sentent (venir).
• Hilali & Khan: And they ask you to hasten on the torment (for them): and had it not been for a term appointed, the torment would certainly have come to them. And surely, it will come upon them suddenly while they perceive not!
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): They ask you [O Prophet] to hasten the punishment. If it had not been for a time already set, the punishment would have come to them. But it will surely come to them by surprise when they least expect it.

Tafsir (explication) de ce verset 29:53

Ô Messager, les polythéistes veulent hâter le châtiment dont tu les as avertis et si Allah n’avait pas déterminé un terme à leur châtiment, qui ne peut être ni avancé ni reporté, ils subiraient certainement la punition qu’ils réclament et elle s’abattrait sur eux soudainement sans qu’ils ne s’y attendent.
