Coran 2:124 — sourate Al-Baqarah, verset 124

۞وَإِذِ ٱبۡتَلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِـۧمَ رَبُّهُۥ بِكَلِمَٰتٖ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّۖ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامٗاۖ قَالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِيۖ قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهۡدِي ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Mentionne ces paroles adressées par son Seigneur à Abraham qui, mis à l’épreuve par certaines prescriptions, s’en était parfaitement acquitté : « Je vais faire de toi un guide pour l’humanité. » Abraham dit : « Que cette promesse s’applique aussi à une partie de ma postérité. » Allah répondit : « Il en sera ainsi, mais Mon alliance ne saurait s’appliquer à ceux qui vivront dans l’impiété. »

And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. [Allah] said, "Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people." [Abraham] said, "And of my descendants?" [Allah] said, "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers

• Noor International Center (fr): Et (souviens-toi) quand ton Seigneur eut mis à l’épreuve Abraham par certaines prescriptions et que (celui-ci) les eut accomplies : « Je vais faire de toi un guide pour les gens », lui dit (Allah). « Et qu’en sera-t-il de ma descendance ? », répondit (Abraham). « Mon engagement n’est pas promis aux injustes. » répondit Allah.
• Hilali & Khan: And (remember) when the Lord of Ibrâhîm (Abraham) [i.e., Allâh] tried him with (certain) Commands, which he fulfilled. He (Allâh) said (to him), "Verily, I am going to make you an Imâm (a leader) for mankind (to follow you)." [Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] said, "And of my offspring (to make leaders)." (Allâh) said, "My Covenant (Prophethood) includes not Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers)."
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): And [remember] when Abraham was tested by his Lord with certain words, which he fulfilled. Allah said, “I will make you a leader for mankind.” He said, “And from among my descendants?” Allah said, “My covenant does not include the wrongdoers.”

Tafsir (explication) de ce verset 2:124

Rappelle-toi lorsqu’Allah éprouva Abraham (`Ibrâhîm) par des jugements et des commandements qui furent parfaitement accomplis et exécutés par Abraham. Allah dit à Son prophète Abraham: Je ferai de tes agissements et de tes vertus un exemple à suivre pour les gens. Abraham demanda à Allah: Fasse, ô Seigneur, que mes descendants soient des exemples à suivre pour les gens. Allah répondit alors: Mon engagement de faire de toi un exemple spirituel ne concerne pas ceux parmi ta descendance qui ne le mériteront pas.
