Koran 43:23 — Sure Az-Zukhruf, Vers 23

وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِي قَرۡيَةٖ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتۡرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقۡتَدُونَ

So haben Wir (auch) vor dir in eine Stadt keinen Warner gesandt, ohne daß diejenigen, die in ihr üppig lebten, gesagt hätten: Wir haben ja (bereits) unsere Väter in einer bestimmten Glaubensrichtung vorgefunden, und auf ihren Spuren folgen wir ihrem Vorbild.

And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und auf diese Weise haben Wir (auch) vor dir in eine Ortschaft keinen Warner gesandt, außer dass diejenigen, die in ihr üppig lebten, gesagt hätten: „Wir haben ja (bereits) unsere Väter in einer bestimmten Glaubensrichtung vorgefunden, und auf ihren Spuren folgen wir ihnen (blind).“
• Hilali & Khan: And similarly, We sent not a warner before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) to any town (people) but the luxurious ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we will indeed follow their footsteps."
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Likewise, We never sent any warner to a town before you except that its affluent ones said, “We found our forefathers on a path, and we are following their footsteps.”
