Koran 2:240 — Sure Al-Baqarah, Vers 240

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوۡنَ مِنكُمۡ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزۡوَٰجٗا وَصِيَّةٗ لِّأَزۡوَٰجِهِم مَّتَٰعًا إِلَى ٱلۡحَوۡلِ غَيۡرَ إِخۡرَاجٖۚ فَإِنۡ خَرَجۡنَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِي مَا فَعَلۡنَ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِنَّ مِن مَّعۡرُوفٖۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞ

Diejenigen von euch, die abberufen werden und Gattinnen hinterlassen, sollen ihren Gattinnen eine Abfindung für ein Jahr vermachen, ohne daß sie aus (dem Haus) gewiesen werden. Wenn sie aber ausziehen, so liegt für euch keine Sünde in dem, was sie mit sich selbst an Geziemendem unternehmen. Allah ist Allmächtig und Allweise.

And those who are taken in death among you and leave wives behind - for their wives is a bequest: maintenance for one year without turning [them] out. But if they leave [of their own accord], then there is no blame upon you for what they do with themselves in an acceptable way. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und diejenigen von euch, die abberufen werden und Gattinnen hinterlassen, sollen ihren Gattinnen eine Abfindung für ein (ganzes) Jahr vermachen, ohne sie (aus dem Haus) auszuweisen. Sollten sie aber (von sich aus) ausziehen, so besteht für euch kein Vergehen in dem, was sie mit sich selbst in rechtlicher Weise unternehmen. Und Allah ist allmächtig und allweise.
• Hilali & Khan: And those of you who die and leave behind wives should bequeath for their wives a year’s maintenance and residence without turning them out, but if they (wives) leave, there is no sin on you for that which they do of themselves, provided it is honourable (e.g. lawful marriage). And Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Those of you who pass away leaving widows should bequeath in their favor to be maintained for one year without forcing them out. But if they leave, then there is no blame on you for what they reasonably do with themselves. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
