Koran 2:170 — Sure Al-Baqarah, Vers 170

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُواْ بَلۡ نَتَّبِعُ مَآ أَلۡفَيۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَنَآۚ أَوَلَوۡ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا يَهۡتَدُونَ

Und wenn man zu ihnen sagt: Folgt dem, was Allah herabgesandt hat, sagen sie: Nein! Vielmehr folgen wir dem, worin wir unsere Väter vorgefunden haben. Was denn, auch wenn ihre Väter nichts begriffen und nicht rechtgeleitet waren?

And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und wenn zu ihnen gesagt wird: „Folgt dem, was Allah hinabgesandt hat“, sagen sie: „Vielmehr folgen wir dem, worin wir unsere Väter vorgefunden haben.“ Was aber, wenn ihre Väter nichts begriffen und nicht rechtgeleitet waren?
• Hilali & Khan: When it is said to them: "Follow what Allâh has sent down." They say: "Nay! We shall follow what we found our fathers following." (Would they do that!) even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided?
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): When it is said to them, “Follow what Allah has sent down,” they say, “Instead, we follow what we found our forefathers doing.” [Would they do so] even though their forefathers had no understanding, nor were they guided?
