Koran 7:58 — soera Al-A'raf, vers 58

وَٱلۡبَلَدُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ يَخۡرُجُ نَبَاتُهُۥ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِۦۖ وَٱلَّذِي خَبُثَ لَا يَخۡرُجُ إِلَّا نَكِدٗاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ لِقَوۡمٖ يَشۡكُرُونَ

De plantengroei van een goed land komt voort door de toestemming van zijn Heer en datgene wat slecht is, brengt niets anders dan met moeite een geringe hoeveelheid. Zo leggen Wij vaak de tekenen uit voor de mensen die dankbaar zijn.

And the good land - its vegetation emerges by permission of its Lord; but that which is bad - nothing emerges except sparsely, with difficulty. Thus do We diversify the signs for a people who are grateful

• Hilali & Khan: The vegetation of a good land comes forth (easily) by the Permission of its Lord; and that which is bad, brings forth nothing but (a little) with difficulty. Thus do We explain variously the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) for a people who give thanks.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Good land produces its vegetation by the Will of its Lord, but bad land only produces poor and scanty vegetation. This is how We diversify the signs for people who give thanks.
