Koran 41:25 — soera Fussilat, vers 25

۞وَقَيَّضۡنَا لَهُمۡ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُواْ لَهُم مَّا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَحَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ فِيٓ أُمَمٖ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِۖ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ خَٰسِرِينَ

En Wij hebben hen (duivelse) metgezellen aangewezen die (hen verblinden door) de dingen (te) verdraaien (zowel dat wat er zich voor hen bevindt (hun wereldse, zondige levens waarin het genot wordt nagejaagd en het geloof aan de kant wordt gezet) als van wat er zich achter hen bevindt (hun ontkenning van de afrekening en de opstanding). En het woord is tegen hen gerechtvaardigd zoals het gerechtvaardigd was tegen degenen onder de voorafgaande generaties djinns en mensen die vóór hen overleden zijn. Voorwaar, zij waren (allen) verliezers.

And We appointed for them companions who made attractive to them what was before them and what was behind them [of sin], and the word has come into effect upon them among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers

• Hilali & Khan: And We have assigned for them (devils) intimate companions (in this world), who have made fair-seeming to them, what was before them (evil deeds which they were doing in the present worldly life and disbelief in the Reckoning and the Resurrection) and what was behind them (denial of the matters in the coming life of the Hereafter as regards punishment or reward). And the Word (i.e. the torment) is justified against them as it was justified against those who were among the previous generations of jinn and men that had passed away before them. Indeed they (all) were the losers.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): We assigned to them [evil] associates who made appealing to them what was before them and what was behind them, so the decree [of punishment] became due against them along with nations that passed before them of jinn and men, for indeed they were losers.
