Koran 2:243 — soera Al-Baqarah, vers 243

۞أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمۡ وَهُمۡ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مُوتُواْ ثُمَّ أَحۡيَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ

Heb jij niet gedacht over degenen die uit hun huizen wegetrokken zijn met duizenden tegelijk, de dood vrezend? Allah zei tegen hen: “Sterf”. En toen bracht Hij hen weer tot leven. Waarlijk, Allah is vol gaven voor de mensheid, maar de meeste mensen bedanken niet.

Have you not considered those who left their homes in many thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die"; then He restored them to life. And Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude

• Hilali & Khan: Did you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) not think of those who went forth from their homes in thousands, fearing death? Allâh said to them, "Die". And then He restored them to life. Truly, Allâh is full of bounty to mankind, but most men thank not.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Have you not seen those who left their homes, while they were in thousands for fear of death? Then Allah said to them, “Die,” and then He brought them back to life. For Allah is ever Gracious to people, but most people are ungrateful.
