Koran 17:79 — soera Al-Isra, vers 79

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَتَهَجَّدۡ بِهِۦ نَافِلَةٗ لَّكَ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَبۡعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامٗا مَّحۡمُودٗا

(Ontwaak uit je slaap) En verricht het gebed tijdens delen van de nacht (dit heet Qiyaam Al-Layl) zodat dit (als) extra daden voor jou (kan worden genoteerd). (Want o Mohammed), wellicht zal jouw Heer jouw (hierdoor op de Dag der opstanding) in status zal verheffen.

And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station

• Hilali & Khan: And in some parts of the night (also) offer the Salât (prayer) with it (i.e. recite the Qur’ân in the prayer), as an additional prayer (Tahajjud optional prayer - Nawâfil) for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم). It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqâm Mahmûd (a station of praise and glory, i.e. the honour of intercession on the Day of Resurrection.).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): And wake up during the night and pray, as an additional prayer for you [O Prophet], so your Lord may raise you to a praised status.
