Koran 12:78 — soera Yusuf, vers 78

قَالُواْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُۥٓ أَبٗا شَيۡخٗا كَبِيرٗا فَخُذۡ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُۥٓۖ إِنَّا نَرَىٰكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ

Zij zeiden: “O Heerser van het land! Waarlijk, hij heeft een oude vader; neem dus één van ons in zijn plaats. Voorwaar, wij denken dat u één van de weldoeners bent."

They said, "O 'Azeez, indeed he has a father [who is] an old man, so take one of us in place of him. Indeed, we see you as a doer of good

• Hilali & Khan: They said: "O ruler of the land! Verily, he has an old father (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place. Indeed we think that you are one of the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see the footnote of V.9:120)."
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): They said, “O chief minister, he has an elderly and vulnerable father, so take one of us instead of him, for we see that you are a kind man.”
