Coran 2:91 — sourate Al-Baqarah, verset 91

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ ءَامِنُواْ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُواْ نُؤۡمِنُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡنَا وَيَكۡفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَآءَهُۥ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مُصَدِّقٗا لِّمَا مَعَهُمۡۗ قُلۡ فَلِمَ تَقۡتُلُونَ أَنۢبِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ مِن قَبۡلُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ

Exhortés à croire au Livre révélé par Allah, ils répondent : « Nous croyons uniquement en nos Ecritures », reniant le message révélé par la suite qui est pourtant la vérité et la confirmation de leurs textes sacrés. Dis : « Pourquoi donc, si vous avez réellement foi en vos Ecritures, avoir tué les prophètes d’Allah ? »

And when it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah has revealed," they say, "We believe [only] in what was revealed to us." And they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is the truth confirming that which is with them. Say, "Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you are [indeed] believers

• Noor International Center (fr): Et quand il leur est dit : « Croyez en ce qu’Allah a fait descendre (en révélation) », ils disent : « Nous croyons à ce qui nous a été révélé. » Ils renient donc ce qui est (venu) après et qui est la vérité même confirmant ce qu’ils avaient déjà. Dis : « Pourquoi mettiez-vous donc à mort les Prophètes d’Allah si vous étiez croyants ? »
• Hilali & Khan: And when it is said to them (the Jews), "Believe in what Allâh has sent down," they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us." And they disbelieve in that which came after it, while it is the truth confirming what is with them. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to them): "Why then have you killed the Prophets of Allâh aforetime, if you indeed have been believers?"
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): When it is said to them, “Believe in what Allah has sent down,” they say, “We only believe in what was sent down to us,” and they deny what came afterwards, although it is the truth confirming that which is with them. Tafsir (explication) de ce verset 2:91

Lorsque l’on dit à ces juifs: Croyez en la vérité et la guidée qu’Allah a révélé à Son Messager. Ils répondent: Nous croyons en ce qui a été révélé à nos prophètes. Ils refusent donc de croire en une autre Révélation, et donc à celle révélée par Muħammad malgré le fait que ce Coran corresponde avec exactitude à ce qu’Allah leur avait précédemment révélé. Ainsi, s’ils croyaient réellement en ce qui leur a été auparavant révélé, ils auraient foi au Coran. Dis-leur, ô Prophète, en guise de réponse: Pourquoi avez-vous auparavant tué les prophètes d’Allah si vous croyiez véritablement à ce qu’ils vous ont apporté?
