Coran 2:89 — sourate Al-Baqarah, verset 89

وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ كِتَٰبٞ مِّنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٞ لِّمَا مَعَهُمۡ وَكَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ يَسۡتَفۡتِحُونَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مَّا عَرَفُواْ كَفَرُواْ بِهِۦۚ فَلَعۡنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

Lorsque leur fut apporté, de la part d’Allah, un livre confirmant leurs propres Ecritures, ils le rejetèrent et traitèrent le Messager d’imposteur. Ils attendaient pourtant l’avènement d’un prophète, dont ils connaissaient parfaitement la description, qui les ferait triompher des païens. Que la malédiction d’Allah poursuive donc les mécréants !

And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming that which was with them - although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers

• Noor International Center (fr): Et quand d’Allah leur fut venu un Livre qui confirmait celui qu’ils avaient déjà– et d’ailleurs ils demandaient auparavant le soutien pour triompher des mécréants – quand leur fut venu cela même qu’ils connaissaient déjà, ils n’y crurent point. Que la malédiction d’Allah tombe donc sur les mécréants !
• Hilali & Khan: And when there came to them (the Jews), a Book (this Qur’ân) from Allâh confirming what is with them [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], although aforetime they had invoked Allâh (for coming of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in order to gain victory over those who disbelieved, then when there came to them that which they had recognised, they disbelieved in it. So let the Curse of Allâh be on the disbelievers.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): Now that there has come to them a Book from Allah, confirming that which is with them – although they used to pray for victory over the disbelievers in the past. But when there came to them what they recognized [to be true], they rejected it. May the curse of Allah be upon the disbelievers!

Tafsir (explication) de ce verset 2:89

Lorsqu’Allah leur fit parvenir le Noble Coran, un Livre qui valide les fondements généraux authentiques apportés par la Torah, ils n’y crurent pas. Avant que le Coran ne soit révélé, ils disaient: Nous vaincrons les polythéistes et nous serons victorieux lorsqu’un prophète nous sera envoyé. Nous croirons en lui et le suivrons! Mais lorsqu’apparurent le Coran et le Prophète Muħammad possédant les caractéristiques qu’ils connaissaient et apportant une vérité qui leur était familière, ils mécrurent. Que la malédiction d’Allah soit sur ceux qui mécroient en Allah et en Son messager.
