Koran 7:94 — Sure Al-A'raf, Vers 94

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِي قَرۡيَةٖ مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّآ أَخَذۡنَآ أَهۡلَهَا بِٱلۡبَأۡسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَضَّرَّعُونَ

Und Wir haben in keine Stadt Propheten gesandt, ohne daß Wir über ihre Bewohner Not und Leid hätten kommen lassen, auf daß sie in Unterwürfigkeit flehen mögen.

And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah]

• Hilali & Khan: And We sent no Prophet unto any town (and they denied him), but We seized its people with suffering from extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss of health (and calamities), so that they might humiliate themselves (and repent to Allâh).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): We have not sent any prophet to a town, but We seized its people with poverty and adversity, so that they may humble themselves.
