Koran 7:148 — Sure Al-A'raf, Vers 148

وَٱتَّخَذَ قَوۡمُ مُوسَىٰ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ مِنۡ حُلِيِّهِمۡ عِجۡلٗا جَسَدٗا لَّهُۥ خُوَارٌۚ أَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ أَنَّهُۥ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمۡ وَلَا يَهۡدِيهِمۡ سَبِيلًاۘ ٱتَّخَذُوهُ وَكَانُواْ ظَٰلِمِينَ

Und das Volk Musas nahm sich, nachdem er (weggegangen) war, aus ihren Schmucksachen (verfertigt) ein Kalb als Leib, der blökte. Sahen sie denn nicht, daß es nicht zu ihnen spricht und sie nicht den rechten Weg leitet? Sie nahmen es sich (als Götzen) und waren ungerecht.

And the people of Moses made, after [his departure], from their ornaments a calf - an image having a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it [for worship], and they were wrongdoers

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und das Volk Musas nahm sich, nachdem er (weggegangen) war, aus ihren Schmucksachen (verfertigt) ein Kalb als Leib, der blökte. Haben sie denn nicht gesehen, dass es nicht zu ihnen spricht und sie nicht den rechten Weg leitet? Sie nahmen es sich (als angebetete Götze) und waren Ungerechte.
• Hilali & Khan: And the people of Mûsâ (Moses) made in his absence, out of their ornaments, the image of a calf (for worship). It had a sound (as if it was mooing). Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to the way? They took it (for worship) and they were Zâlimûn (wrong-doers).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): In his absence, the people of Moses took for worship an image of a calf made from their jewelry that made a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor could it guide them to any [straight] way? Yet they took it for worship and they were wrongdoers.
