Koran 4:129 — Sure An-Nisa, Vers 129

وَلَن تَسۡتَطِيعُوٓاْ أَن تَعۡدِلُواْ بَيۡنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَلَوۡ حَرَصۡتُمۡۖ فَلَا تَمِيلُواْ كُلَّ ٱلۡمَيۡلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَٱلۡمُعَلَّقَةِۚ وَإِن تُصۡلِحُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا

Und ihr werdet zwischen den Frauen nicht gerecht handeln können, auch wenn ihr danach trachtet. Aber neigt nicht gänzlich (von einer weg zu der anderen), so daß ihr sie gleichsam in der Schwebe laßt. Und wenn ihr (es) wiedergutmacht und gottesfürchtig seid, gewiß, so ist Allah Allvergebend und Barmherzig.

And you will never be able to be equal [in feeling] between wives, even if you should strive [to do so]. So do not incline completely [toward one] and leave another hanging. And if you amend [your affairs] and fear Allah - then indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und ihr werdet zwischen den Frauen nicht gerecht handeln können, auch wenn ihr danach trachtet. So neigt euch nicht gänzlich hin (von einer weg zu der anderen), so dass ihr sie gleichsam in der Schwebe lasst. Und wenn ihr (es) wiedergutmacht und (Allah) fürchtet, so ist Allah gewiss allvergebend und barmherzig.
• Hilali & Khan: You will never be able to do perfect justice between wives even if it is your ardent desire, so do not incline too much to one of them (by giving her more of your time and provision) so as to leave the other hanging (i.e. neither divorced nor married). And if you do justice, and do all that is right and fear Allâh by keeping away from all that is wrong, then Allâh is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): You will never be able to maintain absolute justice between your wives, no matter how keen you are. So do not completely incline to one leaving the other in suspense. If you do what is right and fear Allah, Allah is surely All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
