Koran 3:78 — Sure Ali 'Imran, Vers 78

وَإِنَّ مِنۡهُمۡ لَفَرِيقٗا يَلۡوُۥنَ أَلۡسِنَتَهُم بِٱلۡكِتَٰبِ لِتَحۡسَبُوهُ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِۖ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡكَذِبَ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ

Und wahrlich, eine Gruppe von ihnen verdreht mit seinen Zungen die Schrift, damit ihr es für zur Schrift gehörig haltet, während es nicht zur Schrift gehört. Und sie sagen: „Es ist von Allah, während es nicht von Allah ist. Und sie sprechen (damit) wissentlich eine Lüge gegen Allah aus.

And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "This is from Allah," but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und unter ihnen gibt es fürwahr eine Gruppe, die ihre Zungen (beim Lesen) der Schrift verdrehen, damit ihr meint, es gehöre zur Schrift, während es nicht zur Schrift gehört. Und sie sagen: „Es ist von Allah“, während es nicht von Allah ist. Und sie sprechen (damit) eine Lüge gegen Allah aus, während sie das (auch) wissen.
• Hilali & Khan: And verily, among them is a party who distort the Book with their tongues (as they read), so that you may think it is from the Book, but it is not from the Book, and they say: "This is from Allâh," but it is not from Allâh; and they speak a lie against Allâh while they know it.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): And there are some among them who alter the Scripture with their tongues so that you may think it is part of the Scripture, while it is not part of the Scripture; and they say, “It is from Allah,” while it is not from Allah. And they tell lies about Allah knowingly.
