Koran 3:159 — Sure Ali 'Imran, Vers 159

فَبِمَا رَحۡمَةٖ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لِنتَ لَهُمۡۖ وَلَوۡ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ ٱلۡقَلۡبِ لَٱنفَضُّواْ مِنۡ حَوۡلِكَۖ فَٱعۡفُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ وَشَاوِرۡهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَمۡرِۖ فَإِذَا عَزَمۡتَ فَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلِينَ

Durch Erbarmen von Allah bist du mild zu ihnen gewesen; wärst du aber schroff und hartherzig, so würden sie wahrlich rings um dich auseinanderlaufen. So verzeihe ihnen, bitte für sie um Vergebung und ziehe sie in den Angelegenheiten zu Rate. Und wenn du dich entschlossen hast, dann verlasse dich auf Allah! Gewiß, Allah liebt die sich (auf Ihn) Verlassenden.

So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): So bist du durch Barmherzigkeit von Allah mild zu ihnen gewesen. Wärst du aber grob und hartherzig, wären sie gewiss rings um dich fortgelaufen. So verzeihe ihnen, bitte für sie um Vergebung und ziehe sie zu Rate in den Angelegenheiten. Und wenn du dich entschlossen hast, dann verlasse dich auf Allah! Wahrlich, Allah liebt die sich (auf Ihn) Verlassenden.
• Hilali & Khan: And by the Mercy of Allâh, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allâh’s) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allâh, certainly, Allâh loves those who put their trust (in Him).
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): It is by Allah’s mercy that you [O Prophet] became lenient to them. If you had been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from you. So pardon them, seek forgiveness for them, and consult them in important matters. But once you have made a decision, put your trust in Allah, for Allah loves those who put their trust in Him.
