Koran 28:58 — Sure Al-Qasas, Vers 58

وَكَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةِۭ بَطِرَتۡ مَعِيشَتَهَاۖ فَتِلۡكَ مَسَٰكِنُهُمۡ لَمۡ تُسۡكَن مِّنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗاۖ وَكُنَّا نَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ

Und wie (so) manche Stadt, die sich übermütig ihres Lebensunterhaltes erfreute, haben Wir vernichtet! Da sind nun ihre Wohnorte, die nach ihnen nicht mehr bewohnt wurden, bis auf wenige. Und Wir sind es, die Erben (all dessen) geworden sind.

And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors

• Rowwad Translation Center (de): Und wie viele Ortschaften haben Wir schon vernichtet, die sich hochmütig ihres Lebensunterhaltes erfreuten! Dies sind nun ihre Wohnstätten, die nach ihnen nicht mehr bewohnt wurden, bis auf wenige. Und Wir sind es, die Erben (all dessen) geworden sind.
• Hilali & Khan: And how many a town (population) have We destroyed, which was thankless for its means of livelihood (disobeyed Allâh, and His Messengers, by doing evil deeds and crimes)! And those are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them except a little. And verily! We have been the inheritors.
• Rowwad Translation Center (en): How many a town We have destroyed that were arrogant due to their affluence! Those are their dwellings which were never inhabited after them except briefly. It is We Who were the Inheritors.
